Becca sniffed again, but smiled.

“And I want you to keep making me coffee,” she said.

“Because you suck at making coffee,” Krissy laughed.

“Exactly,” Becca agreed, also laughing. But then, the laughter and the smile disappeared.

Shit!

Krissy bit her bottom lip, wondering what was coming next, but also kind of knowing exactly what it was.

“Krissy,” Becca began, “don’t even fucking consider…”

“I know!” Krissy cut her off. “I’m not. Becs, you won’t be a stupid casual fling. Please believe me! I’m all in. I’ve wanted this for a long time now. It won’t be you tonight and then someone else tomorrow.”

God, when she said it aloud like that, Krissy wanted to cringe. Is that how people—especially Becca—saw her?

Well…not anymore!

“Give me a chance,” she whispered.

Becca stared at her and Krissy stared back, exposing herself, letting Becca scrutinize her soul.

Finally, Becca reached out and wiped a tear from Krissy’s face. She slid a little closer.

“You know,” she said, “we may not even like it.”

Krissy nodded. Her best friend had a good point.

“We might hate it,” she suggested.

“So, what do we do?”

Krissy pondered.

“Um…Crystal Myers,” she eventually said.

Becca’s mouth dropped open, her eyes displaying confusion.

“We do Crystal Myers?” she asked. “That’s a bit odd and cryptic, even for you.”

Krissy had to concede that Becca had a point. So, she explained that Crystal Myers was the first girl she had kissed, back in the ninth grade. At the time, she and Crystal were both trying to determine if, yes, they were truly gay. The solution? Kiss each other to see if they liked kissing girls.

“I’m truly gay, Krissy,” Becca said.

“Aargh! I know that! The point is to see if—”

But she couldn’t say anything more because suddenly Becca’s lips were on hers, shutting her up.

Krissy closed her eyes and melted.

Becca’s lips were so pillow soft and still tasted a little like the cinnamon used in the apple pie.

“Mmmmm…” Krissy moaned, rolling onto her back, Becca rolling with her so that she ended up slightly on top of her. Krissy parted her lips more and poked her tongue forward, into Becca’s mouth and immediately found the warm and slick tongue of her friend. At that point, the kissing became more urgent and insistent. Krissy’s hands clutched Becca’s back, grabbed the fabric of her tank top and held Becca against her.

This is happening! And you’re not going anywhere!

Their lips were absolutely perfect together. Krissy had been wanting this kiss for oh so long and now that she finally was experiencing it, it was better than she had imagined.
