without any hesitation. Dallas didn’t want to, but she thought
it would be too rude and the guy had done the paperwork and
executed everything after all. Or so she hoped. If she didn’t
have that money in her account shortly and had to come back
to this office, she wasn’t going to be able to be so nice. She
wouldn’t be able to hide her annoyance and if there was a
rating app out there for legal firms, this one was going to get
one star, since it probably wasn’t possible to give zero.
Quinn went out the door first. Dallas followed her. She
didn’t know how much distance to leave. When Quinn stepped
in front of the elevator to wait, Dallas stepped beside her. They
shared it on the way down. No one else was there. Dallas felt
like the walls of the little box were closing in on her. She felt
like she should say something.
She finally did, as soon as they’d signed out and were
outside the confines of the building.
“Thanks,” Dallas said softly. It was so inadequate and she
knew it.
