apologizes, that’s great. If not, then fu- I mean, erf her, right?”
/>
“Yeah. Erf her. That’s what Mom would want us to say.”
“You guys and your not swearing.” Danica rolled her eyes.
“I like being able to swear when Mom’s not around. There’s
nothing wrong with putting a little bit of spice into your life.”
“Salt could spice up your life,” Billy shot back.
“Salty food, salty language. I think we’re in agreement.”
Danica wrinkled up her nose at Billy. Only he could get a nose
wrinkle from her. At just over thirty, Danica didn’t think
wrinkling her nose was still age appropriate.
Billy hated being beaten at his own game, so he scrunched
his nose back in return. Danica rolled her eyes. He rolled them
back.
“Okay…” Quinn broke up the silent bickering before it
could turn into not so silent bickering. “I’ll call the lawyer
back. I’m going to do it. Thanks for coming. I was bouncing
off the freaking walls in here. I just needed to calm down and I
couldn’t do it by myself.”
“Yup. You needed us because we’re the best.”
“Oh god,” Danica groaned.
“While you’re here, do you want to order something? It’s
already after six. I called you and you dropped everything like
the amazing brother and sister that you are.”
“She’s laying it on thick,” Billy groaned. “She probably
wants to get Italian just because she knows we both can’t stand
her favorite place.”
“Well… I am the one paying. And I do have to do
something really crappy soon, so maybe you should feel sorry
for me and humor me.”
