were so thrilled to get it.”
“Oh. That’s g
ood. I- I never doubted that you would give it
to them. I just thought if you hadn’t yet, you might save some
for moving costs. But I can help you. It would be expensive
and if you didn’t have a job…”
“Don’t worry about that. I can figure that out. My parents
would probably help me out, but I also have some savings. I’m
not worried about any of that. All of it will work out. I just
want to know what you want.”
Quinn didn’t hesitate. “I want you. I don’t think I ever
stopped loving you either, in a way. Danica says that you’re
special. That you’re my first and probably my last. That you’re
Dallas. That’s what she said to me one of the times I was
freaking out. I feel like there’s been a couple lately.”
“That’s alright. It’s all been tough.”
“Not tough. The distance was tough, but the other stuff
was just shocking, confusing, and- and amazing.”
“I hope that it’s just as amazing in the future.”
“Even if it’s those other things, we can handle it, can’t
we?”
Dallas gripped Quinn’s hand. “Yes. Definitely.”
“Then I’m in. I’m sorry for trying to be the one who bailed
like a million times already. I’ll do better in the future.”
“It’s okay. We have a lot to work out, but it will come.”
Quinn sniffled and Dallas sniffled, but they wrapped each
other up in their arms. They didn’t just hold each other. They
clung to each other. Quinn relaxed against Dallas. She inhaled
that grapefruit scent that she’d smelled that first day she’d
been close to Dallas again.
