and that was with Quinn the first time they had dated. So many

people weren’t lucky enough to experience what Dallas had

and she was so very thankful for it.

She walked around her living room, looking for things to

tidy up. She’d bought a new set of sheets, a fun bright blue

mermaid print for her bed. Surprisingly, the store had them in

queen size, so they weren’t meant to be just for kids. She’d

washed all her other bedding and cleaned her place all week so

that it was spotless.

Dallas had the urge to call Quinn, since she figured that

she’d be through security and sitting at the gate waiting for her

flight. She held her phone in her hand as she walked. When it

went off, buzzing and blaring in her palm, she let out a little

shriek and just about dropped it on the floor. She caught it a

few inches above the laminate and let out a sigh of relief. Her

screen protector wasn’t the greatest. She’d been meaning to

get a better case too. It was for the best that she avoided all

drops until she splurged on some better protective gear.

When Dallas got her phone right side up, she thought she’d

see her parent’s number on the screen. Her heart beat a little

faster when she saw that it was Quinn. She was probably

calling to check in. Dallas almost did a little happy dance on

the spot, but she kept herself more dignified than that and just

answered the phone instead.

“Hello?”

The pause on the line was unnerving. “Dallas…”

Dallas’ urge to do any sort of happy anything faded away.

There was something distant about Quinn’s voice. Literally.

There was noise in the background, like she was in a moving

vehicle. She was quiet too. Not like she was in a moving
