here and not promise to give it my best shot. I meant what I
said when I texted you. I left once. That maybe wasn’t entirely
my choice, but what I did after- not contacting you- that was.
It’s another choice for me now. I’m not leaving without
fighting for you.” Dallas reached out and brushed her fingers
against Quinn’s arm. Quinn turned towards her and Dallas
trailed her fingers up Quinn’s arm, to her shoulder, and finally
brushed her cheek.
Quinn dropped her hands and leaned into Dallas’ touch.
“I’m so afraid,” she whispered. “Of being hurt again. It makes
me say stupid things. It makes me find things that aren’t
there.”
“I know. But I promise, I’m not going to disappear again.”
Quinn blinked hard. Dallas watched her lashes flutter up
and down. Quinn finally cupped Dallas’ hand with her own.
She pulled her in so fiercely that Dallas nearly flew off the
barstool. She was going to laugh or gasp in surprise, but any
sound was cut off by Quinn’s passionate kiss.
Chapter 20
Quinn
I’m not going to disappear again. Those words, that
promise, buzzed through Quinn. She couldn’t stop herself. She
needed to kiss Dallas. Needed to lay claim to her while she
was there and Quinn still could. It made the kiss a little more
frantic than it should and when Quinn accidentally knocked
her teeth against Dallas’, she pulled away, laughing in
embarrassment.
“Sorry. Got a little carried away.”
Dallas cupped Quinn’s face and pulled her back. “That’s
alright. I don’t mind carried away.”
