and Quinn didn’t bother shutting it. She stood up and walked
to the sink. She looked at herself in the mirror for a few
seconds, then back down at her phone. Maybe she did know
what she wanted and maybe that was stronger than any doubts
she had, even if they seemed insurmountable a few minutes
ago, because it only took her a few seconds to type in a
response.
Chapter 18
Dallas
Dallas was so relieved when Quinn responded to her text
that she melted against the driver’s seat. She’d pulled over a
few blocks from Quinn’s parent’s house in order to text her.
She decided to sit there in the car beside the curb and chance
looking super creepy and out of place. It was a big
neighborhood with lots of houses. Hopefully one extra car
would go unnoticed.
She would have waited for an hour if she had to, but Quinn
actually responded within a few minutes.
Maybe I overreacted. I know you’re going home
Sunday. Want to come over for brunch at my place? I
always have weekends off. 11?
The reminder about her flight and the fact that she’d have
to leave soon couldn’t mitigate the joy Dallas felt at the
invitation.
Sure. Yes. That would be great. Can I bring anything?
The little dots danced on the screen for a few minutes
before Quinn’s response came through. Dallas wondered if
Quinn had written something and deleted it before typing
something else in.
No, that’s fine. I have everything.
