around Romi’s waist and pulled her closer, deepening the kiss. When they
broke apart, they were both smiling a private, special smile.
Romi basically floated towards the pantry and started getting the syrup
ready, then went to the fridge for the berries and whipped cream. Kiera
went to work on the waffles. They were a team. A family. It was a life Kiera
never could have truly imagined for herself, and sometimes it was so
wonderful that it didn’t feel real. She was blessed. A thousand times over.
Every single day she told herself it couldn’t get any better, but every
single day she was wrong. It always got better. There was always room for
more love, even if it felt like her heart was already bursting.
“Have I ever told you that I love you?” Romi asked, the cream and syrup
in hand.
Kiera grinned. “I don’t think so.”
Romi’s eyes twinkled. “I love you.”
Kiera set the batter aside, swept Romi into her arms, and kissed her until
she forgot all about the whipped cream and syrup and waffles. “I love you
too,” she breathed against her lips. “I’ll always love you.”
