“Alright,” Christina said. “Don’t worry. I’ll make sure everyone’s

informed.”

“Good.” Taylor’s expression clearly said that she’d found her backbone

and she was dang well going to use it. “I know I can count on you. You

seem to be excellent at bossing people around and taking over a project.”

Chapter 12

Taylor

“Mom, this place is cool,” Chloe said, marvelling at the big building

from the outside parking lot.

“It is, but you’re not here to explore.” Taylor tried to give her daughter a

stern look, but Chloe just giggled. After running a slight fever the day

before, Chloe was back to normal. She had like, all of two chicken pox so

far, and was raring to go. The last thing she wanted to do was rest. “You’re

on light duty today. Remember, we talked about that yesterday?”

“But, mom, I feel good today!”

“I know, honey, but you have germs in your body that take a while to go

away, and even if you feel better, it’s better for you to rest. You can do some

things for a little bit, but not all day. Not like you normally do. I brought the

laptop. You can watch a movie on it, then I’ll come get you and we can

walk together for a bit. We’ll have lunch, then you should try and have a

nap. I know there’s a lot of noise in there, but I also know that you could

sleep through a zombie apocalypse.” Taylor imitated a zombie, making the

noises and doing the hand motions and everything, and Chloe laughed

wildly.

Taylor took her hand, and they went inside together. Christina had sent

Taylor an email after she’d gone to pick up Chloe, stating that almost all the

men had chicken pox at one time, or were vaccinated. The one that hadn’t

had it opted to stay at work anyway. Apparently, he didn’t seem overly

worried. Since they’d already signed liability releases when they started the
