All staring at me.

“Fuck.” The swear was only supposed to echo in my head, but it’s audible, if the small smile on Jaxon’s face is any indication.

Everyone else looks uncomfortable. I guess getting caught drinking by your boss is awkward.

“Um, okay. I was just stopping by to, um…”

My drunk brain won’t cooperate. Appears incapable of coming up with a reason why I would be stopping by Teddy’s room this late. Even if everyone here knows we’ve been sleeping together, I’m not toasted enough to admit to that in front of people I want to respect me.

“I’m going to go.”

I spin and continue down the hall, just like I should have done in the first place.

“Sutton!”

I keep walking.

“Dammit, June. Stop!”

I freeze. Not just because of what the nickname represents, but also because I wasn’t sure if I’d ever hear him call me June again.

I turn to see Teddy striding toward me.

“What?” I snap.

“What?Youare the one who showed up atmydoor.”

“I’m drunk.”

“Oh, great.” Sarcasm drips from the words. “Have fun tonight?”

I cross my arms. “Yes, actually.Talkedto some guys.”

His nostrils flare. It’s small and petty, but I like that he’s jealous. The high fades fast, though.

“I didn’t sleep with them. Haven’t slept with anyone but you in over a year. Is that what you want to hear?”

“According to you, I shouldn’t expect anything.” He steps closer. “What are you doing, Sutton?”

I don’t meet his gaze. “When are you leaving?”

He sighs. “Tomorrow morning.”

The two words hit me like physical blows.Hours.That’s how much longer we’ll be in the same place.

“Fly safe.”

He scoffs as I turn and pass the two more doors before my room. I’m not expecting him to chase me a second time. But I feel his presence behind me as I fish through my bag for my room key. The light flashes green, and I push through the door into the empty room.

Once again, he follows. I kick off my heels and drop my bag, spinning around to say…something. Something I never get a chance to because his hot mouth collides with mine as soon as the door clicks shut behind us.

His kiss is dirty and dominating, literally stealing my breath as he slips the thin straps holding my dress up off my shoulders. Cool air hits my bare breasts.

My whole body is fighting to keep up. My breathing is fast and uneven, my lungs struggling to pull in enough oxygen to process this. Blood whooshes in my ears as my heart pounds an uneven rhythm, raising my flushed skin to nuclear temperatures. Heat pools in my stomach as a steady pulse thrums between my legs.

Teddy kisses a line down the center of my chest before sucking on my left nipple. I gasp, my hands flying up to fist his hair. He’s rougher than usual, his teeth scraping my skin as his hands yank the lower half of my dress up. We’ve had plenty of hurried sex, but this feels different.

There’s anger, not just desperation.
