Chapter 67

Brody

My waist settles between the curvy thighs of the love of my life. I cock a brow and bark out a laugh. In a stern tone, I grit, “Ain’t got nae fecking fears, sweetheart.”

Though I can see it in Justice’s eyes, she’s hiding the pain. Her warm brown gaze has a spark there too. “I thought we moved past, Day One Brody? You love me, now. Your biggest fear is losing me.”

Instead of conceding to the truth, the bawbag in me ain’t allowing it. I crush all of me against all of her, letting my dominance speak for me.

“You have screwed a lot of women, but now you’ve met the one who ignited your soul. Brody, you’re my biggest headache, and I’m yours. We challenge each other. I would’ve chickened out with Marcus. And I’m sure, like Kieran said, you could’ve killed him at the pub and went to kill Ewan yourself. I don’t know, tossed a hand grenade at the private plane when he got out.”

I shake my head, a genuine laugh ringing out of my chest. “Too many fecking books, Justice.”

“Nothing can tear me away from my smut.”

“Och?” I lift a brow, placing a hand around her neck. “Where’s my poem, Justice Flowers.”

When our eyes lock, I see the sort of light that the darkness could never taint. My fecking stomach sinks, and my heart falls right along with it. This is love.

“Well, Mr. MacKenzie, I was waiting for—”

“Ain’t nae better time than the present, lass.”

Laughter catches in Justice’s throat. Shaking her head, she says, “Alright. This one’s called, ‘Mended.’

I didn’t want to love you.

You were everything I feared.

But exactly what I needed.

Mended.

You put the pieces back together.

Mended.

You let the blood flow through my heart again.

You stitched together what was broken.

Every touch a chance to heal.

And when my head rejected you

My heart knew the lie for what it was.

Mended

You pieced me back together.

Mended

You taught me how to love again.

Mended.

These pieces are yours forever.
