CHAPTERFOURTEEN
HENRY
“So we’re all set?”
Tom nodded, handing over the last few pieces of paper for Henry to sign.
“I’ll file these and have your accounts back open by this afternoon.”
The news made him practically sag in relief. It’d taken over two hours for them to figure out what the cause of the problem was, only to find out that his investment accounts had been compromised as well.
It had been a chain of events that he hadn’t been expecting, nor had he wanted to be dealing with this early in the morning. Thankfully, Tom had gotten everything squared away after a few dozen phone calls.
“Thanks,” Henry slid the papers back on his desk and tossed the pen down next to them.
Tom clicked around on his computer, his glasses reflecting back the spreadsheet on his monitor.
“All right, you’re all set. I’ll call you if anything else comes up.”
Henry nodded and stood, holding out his hand to shake the other man’s.
“Thank you.”
“Of course. Take care.”
With that, Henry headed out of the financial office and back out onto the street. He hadn’t wanted to be stuck in there for so long, but at least now everything was fixed, and his life could go back to normal.
He stuck his hand in his pocket and pulled out his phone, turning it on.
He’d have to call his broker back first and let them know to send the investments through. He wanted that problem taken care of first in the order of business.
Once his phone powered on, he saw a notification pop up from a voicemail. People never typically left him voicemails. Usually, texting or emailing him was the way to go about getting a response from him.
He tapped on the notification, seeing that it was from Olivia. It made him smile as he put the phone up to his ear.
“Listen, I got your message loud and clear, so don’t bother coming around here anymore. You got exactly what you wanted, so congratulations on that one. You’re a sorry son of a bitch. I hope you know that. Just know that I’m flipping you off the next time I see you. Fuck you, Henry.”
He snatched the phone away from his ear, staring down at the screen in disbelief.
She couldn’t actually be serious … right? There was no way she was angry that he’d left to go take care of a business matter. He’d barely been gone more than four hours. By the time she’d probably gotten up, it only would’ve been two!
Shaking his head, Henry quickly tapped on her contact and put the phone up to his ear.
“We’re sorry. The phone number you’re trying to reach is no longer…”
“Wow,” he said to himself and pulled the phone away from his ear again.
She’d blocked him? What absolute bullshit.
It made him let out a frustrated groan. This is definitely not what he needed today. All he’d wanted to do was head back to Olivia’s place and relax in bed with her for the rest of the day. But no, she had to go off and be dramatic because he hadn’t gotten a chance totexther.
What the fuck?
He gritted his teeth and spun on his heel. Well, if she wasn’t willing to answer his phone call, he’d be more than happy to march over to her apartment and bust down her door. She was his mate, and he wasn’t going to let her ghost him like that just because of a simple misunderstanding, which was mostly due on her part.
She was delirious if she thought he’d abandoned her for some reason. Why the hell would he spend all day with her yesterday, comfort her about her father, take her back to her place, and have an incredible night tangled in the sheets together, only for him to abandon her the next morning?
His panther growled at the thought.
