Jesus I’ve failed.

I’ve failed. The guards would have contacted Jude.

I get up to rush back out the balcony door, but I stop again when I remember Mom.

Jude will kill my mother. If I run away now, he’ll kill her. He’ll know I escaped and kill her. She won’t be able to do anything to save herself.

The thought of him putting a gun to my mother’s head like he did before makes me turn right around, because now I imagine him pulling the trigger.

I can’t leave. I have to go out into the living room and face the music. Lie and tell Yev I wanted to go out or something, anything.

On shaky legs I walk through the door, and when I see Aiden crouched over Yev with his knife in his heart and Alex lying next to them in a pool of blood, I know things are so much worse than what I thought.

My breath shutters as pure terror closes my throat and I can’t even scream.

He turns the knife in Yev’s heart and blood sprays over his face in a horrific nightmarish way.

His icy gaze meets mine and with his freehand he reaches into his jacket pocket and pulls out the sheet of paper Amy gave me with the picture of him on it.

“Well hell, it looks like you really did your homework after all,” Aiden says.

Run!

The voice screams in my head to run.

Flee!

Run far away and as fast as I can and save myself.

I turn to do just that when someone grabs me from behind.

When I look up, I see it’s the clean-shaven man who sat beside Aiden at the club. The other man who looks like Aiden walks through the main room door gun in hand followed by another two guys.

I know I’m dead when I see that but the fighter in me pushes me to fight.

“Let me go!” I wail writhing against the grasp of my captor.

He’s far too strong and I don’t stand a chance.

Aiden rises and walks up to me.

“I don’t think so, angel’skoye lichiko. It seems there really was more to you than what meets the eye. You almost had me fooled. Almost and never.”

“It’s not what it looks like.” Tears spring from my eyes.

When he pulls out his gun, I almost die from the sight of it.

Tears stream down my cheeks and I shake my head.

“Please, don’t kill me. Please, I beg of you.”

A wicked smile inches over his lips the more I beg for my life.

“Please Aiden, don’t kill me.”

He aims the gun at me but when I think he’s going to pull the trigger; his fingers move quickly over my neck and suddenly everything goes pitch black.
