“I am,” I panted, anticipation building as I kissed my forehead to his. “But you’re still going to worship me, aren’t you?”

“I can’t touch you, Scarlett,” James hissed, torture brightening the scorch of his stare. “I can’t.”

“Why not?” Frustration kicked my voice up a notch. “Is it some sudden attack of morals about my age?”

“No.”

“Is it about my dad?”

His face pinched in outrage. “No.”

“Then why won’t you kiss me?” I shouted.

The very next second, a harsh gasp flew out of my mouth as my head snapped back. The weather-worn roof caught my yelp as a huge hand fisted my hair at the nape of my neck, wringing out pain so delicious, it tasted like sweet berries on the tip of my tongue.

My body bowed a sharp curve against James, panting and heaving as hot lips grazed the arch of my neck.

“Because I won’t be able to stop,” he growled, sounding positively beastly.

“If I kiss you, I wouldn’t be able to stop after I tasted you.” James put his mouth right against my pulse, talking over it like he was trying to warn me about him. “I’d be like a junkie who just discovered a new brand of heroin. There wouldn’t be any slowing down, no stopping. I’d keep going back for hit after hit until I took every piece of you that I wanted and completely ruined us on each other.”

A moan walked right up and out of my mouth, painting the roof with evidence of just how much I liked the idea of ruination at the hands of James.

“You like that?” A whimper popped off my lips as deft fingers tugged the hair at the base of my neck. “You like the thought of me going fucking insane for you?”

“Insanity is an aphrodisiac,” I moaned, basking in the sheer power emanating out of him. “Haven’t you heard crazy sex is the best kind of sex? Better than hate sex. Better than make up sex.”

Relief unwound in my muscles as James relinquished his fist from my hair, allowing my head to roll on an axis that led right back to him.

He was waiting for me, pupils blown so wide with hunger his sunset eyes were practically a display of midnight.

“We have the trifecta here, don’t we?” I huffed, absent-mindedly touching my pointer finger to the hard plane of his sternum. “We’re making up for how you lied to me, we hate each other, and we’re both a little batshit. I mean, I’m halfway to coming just thinking about how good it’ll be.”

A lazy grin was halfway up my cheeks when long fingers wrapped around my little one poised at his chest.

My lashes fanned up fast, excitement purring beneath my skin as I locked eyes with punishment personified.

“I know you have a listening problem, but I said I’m not touching you.”

“Because you’re scared you won’t be able to stop, I heard you. But what if I don’t care if you can’t stop? What if that’s what I want?”

Severity shadowed beneath his stare. “I know that’s what you want.”

“So then give it to me.”

Aggravation wrinkled his nose, curling his upper lip back into a snarl.

“If you want to get off so badly tonight, call up your little boyfriend or do it yourself.”

My very next breath stilled. His reckless words pulled through one ear and out the other, tugging a smirk up my cheeks on its way out.

“Okay.”

James’ expression quick-changed from pissed to confused to terrified so freaking fast, I almost laughed. But that would have ruined the mood as I yanked my finger out from between his and dipped my hand beneath the boiling water.

Shadows fell across his cheeks as his eyes followed my hand down, shallow breaths pulling between his parted lips. Curiosity and dread were a warring shine in his downcast eyes as he studied the water where my hand disappeared.

A shit-eating grin blew wide up my cheeks as James audibly hitched a breath when the backs of my knuckles ‘accidentally’ brushed the outline of his thick shaft through his briefs.
