Worry stakes her heart. Sharp. Panicky.
She stares at Seth, searching his eyes almost frantically to see if the feelings from tonight are still there.
And they are. But they’re different. Changed. A myriad of emotions she can’t place. Worry. Pain. Nerves. Emotions that have hot tears springing to her eyes.
She grabs his hand. “Don’t go,” she whispers. “I need you, Seth.”
“I ain’t leavin’ you, Lace. I’m here.” His crystal-blue eyes burn. “I’m yours.”
The words, the promise, comes out ragged.
And then Seth dips his head, sweeping the sweetest of kisses over her lips. Lacey cries out in relief and clutches him tighter, pulling him onto the bed with her. Together, they lie there, forehead to forehead, Seth’s arm wrapped protectively around her waist.
Lacey closes her eyes.
It’s what she wants. This. Them.
