Iknow I’ve pushed Brooklyn’s limits tonight. Something inside me comes alive when we’re intimate—like a wild beast that needs to dominate her, mark her.
“Are you okay?” I brush her hair away from her shoulder as she lies on her side next to me, my fingers tracing over the small bite mark I left on her skin. “Shit.”
“Hmm?” She rolls onto her back to look at me, her eyes heavy with sleep and what I hope is satisfaction. Her lips are still swollen from kissing and her hair is a wild, sexy mess.
“I left a mark on you,” I say.
“I’m sure there will be more in the morning.” She smiles and curls into my chest.
“I feel so out of control with you. Like I’m scared to break you but I also can’t seem to control this desire that just . . .” my voice trails off as her eyes meet mine.
“I get it,” she whispers, her hand coming up to cradle my face as she lifts her head and softly touches my lips.
“It’s different with you.”
“What is?”
“Everything.” I reach up and take her hand, intertwining our fingers before bringing them to my lips. “You make me think about things . . . want things.”
“What things?”
I let my hand rest on her chest as I slowly drag it down between her breasts. I don’t answer her—instead, I let my hand wander further until it settles on her lower belly. I have so many things I want to say and express to her, but I’m scared. Scared to admit them to myself. Scared she’ll run for the hills if I dare give voice to what’s running through my mind.
Instead, I kiss her. I take her in my arms and make love to her slowly. It’s different from the experiences we’ve shared so far, and different from the experiences I’ve had with anyone else. Our bodies are speaking—saying all the things our hearts are too scared to express.
In the morning,we don’t talk about how last night ended. I think we both have things we wanted to say, but in the end, we didn’t.
We pack up the campsite at sunrise and make our way back down to the truck.
“You ready for this meeting at 3 today?” She looks over at me coyly and I shake my head.
“No. Not exactly looking forward to seeing my social media posts on a giant screen in front of the entire board.”
She laughs and reaches for my hand. “It’ll be fine, trust me. You’re going to be impressed. The metrics are,” she makes a pretend explosion sound and gestures with her hand, “mind-blowing.”
“Yeah, well, I can just about bet Trent will never let me live it down. I’m actually shocked that Ranger and Decker haven’t teased me much yet.”
“Have you not looked at the posts?”
I shake my head no and check if there are any cars coming before I pull the truck out onto the road.
“Why not?”
I shrug. “Just weird, I guess. Seeing myself on the internet like that.”
She reaches into her pocket and pulls out her phone, tapping around for a few seconds. “Well, you’re going to love the comments then.”
“Oh shit,” I mutter as she giggles and starts to read a few to me.
“Holy hell, I never thought I’d wanna be a horse so bad.”
“Nobody said that.” I reach for her phone but she jerks it away and continues to read.
“Yes, I’m married . . . but it’s not that serious.”
That one makes me chuckle.
