“Which one do you want it to be?”

She squints one eye and taps her chin like she’s thinking. “Well, if it’s the date I bought, we should probably take sex off the table.”

“The fuck we are!” This time I pinch her bottom and she yelps.

“I’m just saying it feels a little like prostitution. I did buy a date with you, so ya know, you okay with hoeing it out for a few dollars?”

We both laugh.

“Tell you what, let’s just table those two options and this is me asking you out on a date. So, where would you like to go?”

“Camping.”

“As in?”

“As in real camping: in a tent, in the forest with the animals, with a campfire and s’mores.”

“Now that I did not see coming. I thought for sure you’d say renting a cabin up in Grand Lake or borrowing my dad’s RV that’s the size of a small house.”

“No, I want the true experience.”

“Bugs and snakes and all?”

She scrunches up her face. “Okay, don’t ruin it for me.”

“Okay, baby, it’s a date.” I pull her face toward me and plant a soft kiss on her forehead.

“Excellent. Now let’s get to the good part.”

“Good part?” I ask, confused.

She reaches down and grabs the hem of her shirt and pulls off her pajama top. Her breasts are bare beneath the shirt and they sway slightly with the movement. My attention instantly falls to them and I reach my hands up to cup them.

“Make-up sex.”

I lean forward and gently bite each nipple before standing up and swinging her around and over my shoulder as I march toward her bedroom.

“Don’t have to tell me twice.”

I stare at the ceiling, running my hand softly up and down the smooth skin of Brooklyn’s exposed arm. The room is completely silent, with only the faint sounds of her soft breath coming out in puffs next to me.

I turn my head to look at her, and she’s fast asleep, her blonde curls splayed across the pillowcase. My heart feels full and scared at the same time. I know I’m falling in love with this woman—hell, I might have fallen already.

I have to be up in just a few short hours and I don’t want to disturb her, so I slowly slide my arm out from beneath her and exit the bed. I brush her hair away from her face and lean in to plant a kiss against her cheek.

“Sweet dreams, sweetheart.”
