One of them lunged at her and she rose her fists to her chest to defend herself all while the other two worked in tandem so that one of them could grasp her around the waist. He dipped low and threw her over his shoulder and the three men sprinted off together with their prize. She kicked and fought, but it didn’t make a difference. They had her now.
At the loss of their leader, the omega women faltered for a moment. They looked lost, like they had never contemplated that the ferocity of the woman who led them could be overpowered. Another small female rushed forward, taking her place.
“Ellie,” Triss whispered quietly in wonder. She’d quieted and I let her down off my shoulder but kept a solid grasp on the back of her neck in order to let her know that I was still very much in control.
The city horn blared once more. Two long blasts followed by one short one.
“Fuck,” Ravick sighed.
“What does that mean?” Garret asked.
“It means we’re fucked. Every beta soldier is in position and we’re probably surrounded. They’re probably focusing on us right now, because it’s the densest pocket of instability in the city. We’ve got to get out of here,” he replied.
“I can’t leave them,” Triss replied.
“We no longer have a choice,” Garret answered.
Triss growled and tried to escape my hold on her, but I was prepared for her moment of defiance. We were taking her out of the city on our terms, whether she liked it or not.
