“Umm… not that I know of,” he hedges.
“You sure?” I ask him and nod toward Briar, “Were you going to tell us about Piper?” I grin to let him know he’s off the hook.
Caleb is blushing by this point and is now looking very uncomfortable. This is a new side to this usually cocky kid. He was just talking about how he could have my girl and now he’s blushing. It’s an act that he puts on. The blushing lets me know that he’s kind of serious about Piper.
“King, leave him alone,” Briar giggles at Caleb’s discomfort, “Piper is lovely, Caleb.” I watch as she winks and lets Caleb sit beside his girl. Piper watches all of this.
“I didn’t know if it would turn into anything so I didn’t want to jinx it,” Caleb shrugs.
“Briar’s right, so don’t mess it up,” I slap his shoulder as I take a seat in the arm chair to wait for the others. Caleb smiles at all of us as he takes Piper’s hand.
“Hope the rest of you find a nice girl,” I state as the others join us, and they all just stare at me before Holden laughs.
“Let’s go,” I grumble, taking Briar’s hand.
We have Dasher’s wedding first and then the party. Today is going to be a good day even if I have to kill Lane for it to happen or Holden since he wants to try and bust my bubble.
“Holden didn’t mean anything by that,” Briar whispers to me.
All I do is nod. I swear, as we walk out of the elevator, Holden mumbles something about wanting a girl that is already taken. So he’s jealous, good to know… of who I don’t know.
“We’re so glad you could join us, Piper. Still not sure what you see in this idiot,” I snort, trying to lighten the mood.
And Caleb blushes again as everyone snickers, except Briar because she has a good heart. She swats my arm and I stop.
“What? I say that out of love,” I protest.
“You’re ridiculous sometimes,” she snorts, “I go back to my statement about men acting like a five-year-old.”
“I’ll show you five-year-old,” I grumble.
“Watch it, Mr. Storm. We don’t have time for that right now and I don’t want to ruin my pretty dress,” she smirks at me.
“Gross,” Thorn whines and everyone laughs, even me.
I drive to Dasher’s parent’s house where the wedding is taking place. His parents are obsessed with Christmas, he’s named after a reindeer for fuck’s sake, but they are awesome people and I love them as a second family.
“Kingston,” his mom greets me before stepping back so I can introduce everyone.
“Thank you, guys, for coming. It will be in the backyard, sit wherever you want,” his mom says before moving off to other guests.
Briar gasps when we step into the backyard that looks like a winter wonderland.
“This is beautiful,” she smiles.
“They love Christmas,” I grin as we grab some seats and I wave at Dasher. Briar picked out a present from all of us. I told her I had one and then I forgot about it when I was ring shopping. When they get back from their honeymoon, I’ll have to do something for him.
Everyone takes their places and the music starts. I have to say Noelle looks beautiful. Briar tears up at the vows, and we all cheer loudly when they are pronounced husband and wife.
“Thanks for coming, guys,” Dasher says as we make our way back to our car to go to my mom’s party.
“Have fun on your honeymoon. When you get back, we will do something for you both,” I hug him once before Briar does and watch as he joins his bride.
“I’m so happy for them,” she gushes.
“Me too,” I caress her hand as I drive to my mom’s.
When I pull up in the drive, Briar and Thorn’s mouths drop.
