Soon I fall asleep, dreaming of her. I wake up before anyone else. Rolling off the couch, I shower and dress and head downstairs to start the coffee.
“Morning,” I hear and I nearly jump out of my skin. I grab a knife in retaliation and turn to find Thorn.
“Dammit, Thorn. You scared the shit out of me,” I sneer.
“My bad. A big bad fighter like you scared?” he laughs and finally I join in.
“Thanks for last night,” he says.
“My pleasure,” I nod.
“If you do like my sister, please don’t hurt her. Go slow.”
“I wouldn’t dream of hurting her,” I tell him, and he seems to relax a little bit.
“Thank you,” he says.
I turn on the coffee and pull out stuff for breakfast.
“So, I know she has to work this week, but I was thinking that this weekend we could go to an amusement park, my treat. Get to know you guys a little better,” I say.
“My sister has always wanted to go to Disney. Don’t tell her I told you.”
“My surprise. I thought I’d take you guys out to dinner. I get the feeling you guys haven’t done a lot of that or seen a lot of the sights,” I say.
“You’re really awesome, King,” he says.
