“All right, good luck,” I storm back to the office, Piper in tow.
“That was awesome,” Piper giggles.
“Sometimes you have to be assertive, and Caleb has worked hard for this,” I tell her, swinging the door open as Remo lifts his head.
“Piper, run out and ask Tristan for the medical kit,” and she leaves.
“You don’t have to help me. I have my own kit,” he says.
“I think it took guts doing what you did. To take on King like that, takes balls. But you had to know he would react like that. It’s his sister.”
“He didn’t even want to hear me out about her cheating.” He puts his head in his hands.
“I’ll make him listen. What are you going to do now?”
“I am moving right under you, into the suite below. I own half that hotel chain. I’m moving out tonight after I let her know. I think she knows it’s coming, since I caught her in the act,” he says sadly.
“I’m so sorry. When she told me your story at the party I assumed everything was all good,” I whisper since now my throat hurts again.
“It was for show. She knows her mother will be upset with her,” he admits.
“We all make mistakes,” I tell him.
“It’s not the first time. And we shouldn’t be dealing with my shit,” he says.
“You’re still coming over and we’re going to talk about it,” I warn him, right as Piper returns.
I take care of some of his cuts, knowing he can handle the rest.
“Let’s look up some things for New York and forget about all of this,” I tell Piper as we start our research, even looking up some shops we want to browse, ones too expensive but you only live once.
And we wait until the fight is over.
