“Which floor are we on?” she asked, her breath already growing labored.

My eyes glanced back to the slip of paper. “Floor twenty-one.”

Millie let out a disappointed sigh, and I knew the feeling. Were no rooms on the second floor available? How many agonizing seconds would it take to rise that high? With every moment passing, I couldn’t kiss her as I liked. The group standing ahead of us made it impossible for me to have what I wanted, but it didn’t mean I couldn’t have a small taste first.

Reaching out, I let my fingers curl around her arm. I looked down at Millie as I kissed the inside of her wrist. I breathed in the faint scent of vanilla and knew words weren’t needed between us. The knowing look in her bedroom eyes said more than enough.

After two floors, we were alone in the elevator. It was sweet relief. Finally, there was nothing stopping me from grabbing Millie’s hips. We drifted higher and higher, and for the first time, I got to taste the wine and chocolate on her mouth. Pressing her into the elevator wall, I coaxed Millie’s lips apart and found her tongue dancing with my own. A whimper escaped her lips.

“We can’t get too carried away here,” she murmured between kisses.

“Says who?”

“Somebody else could get on,” she answered, but I was already stealing another kiss.

Another soft moan hummed against my mouth. My hands pushed up the hem of her silky skirt. It was going to be so easy to untie her sash, to leave Millie breathless and bare.

“I don’t care,” I swore.

I was far too interested in how Millie’s neck might feel against my lips. Noticing the tiniest outline of a red heart behind her right ear, I kissed the drawing inked into her skin. The shiver that coursed through Millie was palpable. When the elevator doors opened to our floor, it felt like I was already heading to paradise.

One smile on the sidewalk was quickly becoming so much more.
