Walkinginto work at the crack of dawn the next day, I’m dreading the day ahead of me and still thinking of Laurel. What is it about her that gets me going? Last night, I swear moaning came from her side of the wall, which only sent me into a frenzy. Is she doing this stuff on purpose to get a rise out of me? Whatever it is, I end up pleasuring myself to her last night. That’s all that can happen.
“Morning, boss,” Justin greets me, with a mocking grin.
“We’ll see. Gotta find a replacement for Lacey today. Wish me luck.”
Powering on my computer, I get ready for the day. Paperwork overwhelms me, piled up on my desk for the first hour until they set my first interviewee to arrive. I come to a stopping point and wait, but they never show.
What the hell is wrong with people nowadays? Why do you agree to an interview if you will not show up? A big pet peeve of mine is wasting time. I crave to rewrite DO NOT HIRE, but I can’t find her resume in the five hundred papers spread around my office. God, I miss Lacey. First order of business for whoever takes over, organize my stacks of papers. I can’t stand clutter! Maybe I can talk her into coming back. Hell, what can I offer her as an incentive that I haven’t already?
Someone knocks on my office door, but it isn’t one of my employees because they just walk right in. Getting the door, it opens to a screech. What the hell? This must be a joke. There she is, standing outside my door in business attire that is way too tight and when she walks past me into my office, all I can see is the shape of her ass in that skirt. I shake my head. “Um. Laurel? What are you doing here?”
“I’m your new assistant, silly. Who could be a better fit than me? I’ve got over a decade of experience, and Lacey can fill me in on anything I need to know about you.”
“My new assistant? You’re that confident?” The way her ass swivels as she walks in her high heels around my office makes me pulsate. Don’t let her get to you. You are NOT hiring her.
“Yes, after last night, I figured I wouldn’t even have to interview.” She sits down in a chair, crosses her legs to where the skirt is sitting just above her mid-thigh.
“Wow, I’m going to stop you right there.” Laurel’s brows shoot up at the cutoff. “I’m sorry you got the incorrect impression, but there’s no way I can employ you.”
She uncrosses her legs with a pout. “And why is that? Give me one good reason.”
“Well, for starters, we live next door to each other.”
She laughs. “And? What does that have to do with anything?”
“I like to keep my personal and professional life separate. You know that.”
“So, you consider me a part of your personal life, then?” A smirk unravels.
“Absolutely not.”
“Then why can’t I be your assistant? Give me today to prove to you I’m the perfect candidate for the job. If at the end of the day you still don’t think I’m right, then no hard feelings. Deal?”
I’ve never been foolish, yet here I am, considering her offer. “You won’t bug me at home either?”
A slight bit of regret comes over me. Did I desire for her to leave me alone? Affirmative, accepting her in my life would be a mistake. Working closely with her will only make things harder to resist.
“Fine. You have until the end of the day to prove yourself to me.”
With no hesitation, for the second time, I hurl my door closed in her face.
