“Actually, I’m glad you came,” I murmur against Jared’s chest. “Because I have something to tell you, big boy.”
“What is it, sweetheart?” Jared asks, brushing back a strand of my hair. “Tell me now.”
I take a deep breath, a smile spreading slowly across my face.
“Well, I’m pregnant,” I tell him simply. “You’re going to be a daddy in about seven months or so.”
My fiancé is stock still for a moment, unmoving. But then, he picks me up and twirls me around, laughing as the people in the changing room watch, amazed.
“A baby!” he breathes. “Holy shit!”
I giggle. “Yes, definitely a baby. So I guess it’s good we’re doing this wedding now because I’m pretty sure I’m not going to fit into this gown very much longer.”
My man merely leans in to kiss me.
“I don’t give a shit about the dress, sweetheart, because it doesn’t matter. What matters is you and our child. You’ve made me the happiest man alive,” he rasps, looking a bit tearful himself. But then my man blinks. “Wait, have you told Vivi yet?”
I shake my head. “No, not yet, but maybe we could tell her together?”
With that, Jared nods and turns, beckoning to his daughter. As Vivian comes trotting over, my heart blooms as he sweeps her up into his arms, the child looking sweetly into my eyes. Together, we open our mouths to tell our daughter about her new sibling, and my heart aches with happiness. This is us. This is our family, and now, there is only joy, peace, and contentment ahead.
