This can’t be happening right now. She’s not leaving me.

“Don’t do this, Sophia.”

“I’m not doing anything.”

“You want to end this.”

“Give me a reason to stay.”

“Because I fucking love you.” She freezes at my admission.

“Is that a good enough reason for you, Sophia? I fucking love you. You’re my light in this dark, fucked-up world I live in.”

“Maxim. I—”

“No, Sophia, let me talk. You’re my life, my first choice. I’ll burn and kill anyone who dares to get in the way. You can’t think about what we have is worth giving up. Until you, I thought I would never be capable of love. Love was just a word with no meaning. But you, Sophia, have flipped my world on its axis. I love you, printsessa.” I refuse to give her up.

“You’re the most important person in my life, Sophia. The Bratva doesn’t matter as much as you do.” Tears fall from her eyes. She hugs me, and I kiss the side of her head.

“Don’t give up on us.”

She nods. Thank fuck. Not sure what I would have done if she had ended this.

“I love you, too, Max,” she says into my shoulder. She loves me back. I stand, and her legs wrap around my hips.

“Look at Me,” I tell her.

“You love me?”

“Yes, I do.” I feel like I’m the luckiest bastard alive. She kisses me, and we get lost in the heat and the love we have for one another.

Music starts playing, and I get an idea.

“Dance with me?”

“You? Mr. Uptight wants to dance with me?”

“I want to do everything with you.”

She wiggles off of me.

“Then lead the way.”

Feeling lighter, I grab her hand and walk us to the middle of the dance floor. Sophia starts looking around. She seems tense, so I pull her close to me.

“Don’t worry about anyone, Sophia. They don’t matter. Only we do.”

“You’re right.”

I mock-gasp. “Did I just hear those words come out of your mouth?”

“Oh, shut up.”

The sweet soft voice of Jess Glynne comes through the speakers. I twirl Sophia around, grab her hips, dip her, and give her a gentle kiss.

“I love you, printsessa.”

“How romantic of you.”
