Bryan: Last time we were in NYC, she met us at a restaurant and got a cab back.
Adrien: Yeah, we’re packing up some of her stuff and flying out tomorrow night.
Bryan: Thought you’d planned on staying a few days.
Adrien: We did. I need to get her out of here already. I can move most of the meetings to tomorrow. I didn’t have that many planned.
Bryan: Let me know when you get home.
Bryan: I wish I could see her face when she sees your place.
Adrien: No doubt Catherine will find out. And it’s our place.
Bryan: Man you’re in trouble :)
Adrien: Wouldn’t change a thing.
I put my phone back in my pocket, laughing. Sara looks at me funny as she’s packing up another case that she pulled out of her bedroom. I help her move her cases out of the apartment.
She breathes a sigh of relief as we sit in the back of the town car I hired and was waiting for us when we were ready.
Bang!
“Oh, shit.”
I hear from the other side of the room. I lift my head up from the pillow and see Sara walking in with two mugs of coffee.
She’s wearing my t-shirt I threw on the ground last night. She looks way better in it than I do.
“Sorry. Did I wake you?”
“No, it’s ok. Are you ok?” I take the coffee she is handing to me.
“I just banged my foot on the side. I misjudged the gap in the dark.”
She puts her coffee on the table and turns on her lamp.
“So I need to go into the office for a couple of hours this morning. But then we should be good to head home this afternoon. I’m hoping for an early afternoon. Does that work for you?”
“Yeah, that sounds great. It probably won’t take me more than a couple of hours to sort everything out.”
“Good. Wish I could help.”
“Don’t be silly, Adrien.”
“So don’t argue with me about this.”
I say, getting out of bed.
“But I got in touch with your landlord last night. I’ve paid this month's rent for you, and I’ve got a team of guys who are going to come in tomorrow to box everything up.”
“Ady…”
I turn around, and she has that relieved look on her face again. She stands up and walks over to me and kisses me on the lips, hard.
“Thank you.”
“Ok, I was expecting to have to sell you on this a bit more.”
