“Katie’s been pushing her buttons for days. I guess she stopped growing up once she left high school. Just let her come to you, ok? She’s making a lot of changes and while I know she loves you so stinking much, she wouldn’t be doing any of it if she wasn’t head over heels in love with you. You know Sara , she’ll talk when she’s ready.”

And just like a fairy godmother, she’s off mingling with her friends.

I wakeup and feel Sara pressed against me. She’s in her underwear and for the first time since we’ve started sleeping together, she’s not naked. I don’t like that one bit.

She burrows into me more, and I can sense she’s already awake.

I open my eyes and see her staring at me with a huge smile on her face. I will not lie. It’s great to see. Also, I can feel all the stress leaving my body. I was so worried that she’d still be upset.

“Hey,” she rubs her hand over my chest. “I’m sorry about last night. I let Katie get into my head.”

I’m scared to say the wrong thing, so I go with my gut and just keep my mouth shut. It seems the safest thing at the moment.

“There are some things I need to talk to you about,” she smiles, “but I’d prefer not to talk about it naked.”

We both laugh.

“Technically, we’re not naked.”

She hits me in the chest and lifts herself out of the bed. She walks into the bathroom naked.

I grab a pair of gray sweats out of the closet and use the other bathroom down the corridor near the spare bedroom.

I half dress and turn the coffee machine on, getting out two mugs. I think this next conversation is going to need it.
