Adrien
My eyes have not left her all night. We’ve been in some kind of sex bubble the last few days. There are friends at this wedding. We don’t all get to be together enough, with Bryan living so far away. If I spend all my time with Sara, I’m going to want to get naked with her. I didn’t see Catherine move away, but something made me look over at her when I saw her slap Katie across the face. A part of me wants to laugh and cheer, but a small part of me is worried. Katie can be scrappy when she wants to be.
The guys all kept distracting me until we all hear a commotion and turn towards the shouting.
Katie is laying into Sara, and to say I'm angry is the understatement of the century.
The next thing I see, Sara is running off and Katie is looking like the cat that got the cream. She pushes her hair off her face and stands up. Really fucking pleased with herself.
I storm over to her. I can feel the anger coming off me in waves.
People see the look on my face and split like the Red Sea in front of me.
“Oh hi Adrien,” Katie laughs, drink in hand.
Does she think I didn’t see what just happened? How can she look so relaxed, knowing she’s going to ruin her cousin's wedding? She’s really pissing me off.
“What did you say to Sara?”
She laughs again in that way mean girls at school used to. Katie has obviously never grown up or peaked in her life. No surprises there.
“Nothing, she wasn’t already thinking.”
By now, Bryan and Catherine have come over to see what all the fuss is about. I don’t want to be anywhere near Katie. I give Bryan a look, and he nods to the door Sara must have left out of. The only other person who looks as angry as me is Bryan. The tightness in his eyes and noisy breathing with his arms crossed at his chest, totally giving him away.
I run off to the door that takes me out of the room where we were having the reception. I look around the outside at the garden benches. I can’t see her anywhere. How in the hell did she rush off so quickly? She was wearing heels for crying out loud.
The next time I see Katie, we’re going to have a serious word about boundaries and how I am never going near her ever again. I should have listened to Bryan.
Deciding I’m fighting a losing battle, I make my way over to the staff elevator and press the number that will take me to the security floor. Those guys will find her so much quicker than I’d be able to.
Walking down the corridor, I see staff talking, and as soon as they see me, they disperse immediately. I can still feel the heat coming off me.
In the room, I swipe my key card, and there are three people sitting at their desk. I head over to the only person I know.
“Hey.” I say to Kyle.
Kyle looks up from his screen.
“What’s the problem, boss man?”
I laugh inside. And start to feel myself relaxing, just a little.
Kyle used to work in Los Angeles with me , but wanted to move to Miami as his girlfriend needed to relocate. I always felt better about being away from here, knowing Kyle was a phone call away. He was my eyes and ears in the place. I shouldn’t be surprised he was working tonight.
“Hi Kyle, I need you to find someone for me.”
“Wouldn’t happen to be the lovely lady you’ve been spending almost all of your time with, would it?”
“That’s the one. She would have run out of the reception room about fifteen minutes ago, maybe even twenty.”
“Ok, boss man,” Kyle presses buttons on his keyboard, going through the video feed on his screen.
I take a deep breath and try to relax. I don’t like knowing Sara is walking around alone when she’s obviously upset about something.
On another feed, I see Katie getting in an elevator with Bryan, who looks like he’s ready to explode. They’re having a heated argument, but I look away, more concerned about where Sara is.
Kyle turns to me.
