SIENA 10
“Bion has arrived.”
Looking up from my chair near the window, I smile at Esmeralda that is sitting opposite me. Her senses are more in tune with everything around her, more than most people. Therefore, she can hear, sense, feel and see better than anyone else, even more than the Elementals. From what I have heard, theirs are also quite enhanced. This last week since arriving at the club has been a rollercoaster, but luckily, I’m starting to get my movement back and can already stand and walk even though it’s really slow.
Today, Bion has come to see me, something Eirik mentioned this morning before he disappeared. Ever since our argument I have hardly seen him. If it wasn’t for the women keeping me company, I would be as alone here as I was when I was captured.
I know that he sleeps with me at night because sometimes his side of the bed is still warm, and only today was he still in the room when I woke up, but I think that is because he wanted to tell me that Bion was coming. When I saw him this morning all I wanted to do was for him to kiss me, for him to show me what it’s like to be his mate, but he doesn’t seem to want to even be in the same room as me.
“I hope he can figure out a way to take that thing out of my back.” Anastasia took a photo of my back and I finally was able to see what was done. I was horrified at the long scar running the length of my back, but what horrified me the most was the round metal dial right in the middle of my back, as if I was a robot. I’m worried that if it is taken off, then I won’t be able to move again, depending on what they have done.
But the women swear by Bion’s abilities as a healer, and apparently his mate Brielle has a gift of healing as well. But Brielle is also pregnant and won’t be coming with Bion today. “Has Bion been the one to give you a check-up once you found out you were pregnant?” Even though I met Bion before, I am nervous of what he will say once he has a chance to see exactly what they have done to my back.
“Yes, and he is great,” Esmeralda replies as she lowers her kindle. “I never thought I could become pregnant, so you can understand that I had no idea the reason I wasn’t feeling well was because I was pregnant.” She shrugs with a smile. “To be honest, I was convinced that I didn’t want children. I didn’t want to bring an innocent life into this world full of treacheries.” She slides her hand over her stomach lovingly. “But then I felt him move and everything changed.”
“You know it’s a boy?”
“No, but Dag and I are hoping for a boy,” she confesses with a smile.
“Well, hello, ladies.” I turn my head to see Bion standing in the doorway with Eirik right behind him.
“Hi, Bion, I haven’t seen you in a while,” Esmeralda calls.
“Yeah, a lot has been happening lately. How are you feeling, darling?” He isn’t just a good healer, he seems to be great with his patients too.
“I would be better if everyone stopped coddling me,” she replies with a shrug. Bion comes to stand next to her, his head inclined, giving me the impression that he is listening to something.
“Would you like me to have a word with Dag?”
“Would you?” she asks with a happy expression.
“Leave it up to me,” he promises with a teasing smile His head turns, and his eyes connect with mine. “What about you, sweetheart?”
“Don’t know. I’m waiting for you to tell me,” I say with a smile. Since I met him, he has been nothing but good to me.
“Well then, shall I start with some questions just to understand how you are feeling before we continue?”
“Of course.”
“Well, that’s my cue to leave,” Esmeralda says as she stands to make her way out of the room. When Esmeralda leaves Eirik closes the door behind her and then leans against it, giving me the impression that he wants to stand as far away from me as possible, but still be able to see and know what Bion is doing.
“You can also leave. I’m fine with Bion.”
My statement has his relaxed expression tensing and a scowl covering his face.
“No.”
I huff at his stubbornness, but look at Bion, waiting for him to continue.
“I see you are moving more than when I first saw you. Are you still taking the painkillers?”
“I only take one in the morning,” I reply. I can feel Eirik’s eyes boring into me from where he’s standing.
“That’s good, and do you have pain?”
“Yes, every time I move.” I would rather have the pain than be in limbo. After living through hell like I have in the last months, the pain I feel now when I move is bearable.
“Then why the fuck don’t you take the pills?” Eirik suddenly asks, surprising me when I see him standing right next to me. “I will not have you in pain.” His angry words have me tensing in anger.
