“What the fuck are you doing at my gate, Basil?” Tor asks as he stops before the gate, his muscles flexing in anger.
“We want the woman. We know that you have her,” Basil replies as he squares up to Tor on the outside of the gate.
“No.”
Tor’s simple reply has Basil’s features tensing in anger, a sneer lifting his lips.
“You don’t want to do this for a simple woman,” he states.
“She’s not just a simple woman to us. She’s now one of our Ol’ Ladies.”
At Tor’s revelation, Basil’s eyebrows raise in surprise. It’s well known that an Ol’ Lady is protected by the club. This will tell them that we will not enter into any negotiations for her life, but will protect her no matter what.
“You must be kidding. Who would want her?”
His words have every nerve in my body stiffening in fury. How dare he judge my woman for something that was beyond her control?
“She’s my Ol’ lady,” I reply with pride, because no matter what she has been through, she is mine and nothing changes the person that she is.
“Could only be you,” Basil spits out in rage. “Why the fuck are you so hot for Sean’s leftovers?”
One minute I’m standing behind Tor and Garth, the next, I’m by the gate making my way outside. Dane and Ulrich grab my arms to hold me back, but the fury running through my veins is like lava. I can feel the ground heaving under my feet, telling me that I’m losing control. Soon the Desperados will be fighting for breath when the earth opens up and swallows their dark souls.
“Dag!” I hear Tor’s warning. As Elementals, we are not to abuse our powers or reveal them to humans.
“Shit, was that a tremor?” one of the assholes that is traveling with Basil asks as he looks around cautiously. The other men are also looking at the ground, uncertain if it will shake again or not.
I’m tempted to open a crater below their feet and let the earth swallow them whole.
“This will not end well for you if we don’t get the woman,” Basil states in a threatening tone, which has Tor raising his brows, a look of boredom reflecting on his features.
Tor takes a step closer to the gate, and I see Basil take an unconscious step of retreat.
“Listen carefully, don’t ever come here again or next time you won’t be leaving alive. Esmeralda is now an Elemental, and she will not be going anywhere.” With those words Tor turns and with a relaxed stride makes his way back inside, leaving Basil spluttering at the gate in fury.
“Go inside, Dag,” Dane says as he lets go of my arm from where he was restraining me from going after Basil.
I take in a deep breath, trying to calm the rage coursing through me. The audacity of the fucker to talk about Esmeralda in my presence. He will die by my hand!
