Dane nods as he lowers his head to kiss my forehead. “Good thing you were here, we might not have seen her,” he says just as the waiter places all the food on the table.
“Are your friends coming back or should I prepare takeaways?” the waiter asks.
“No, it’s fine, you can leave it,” Ulrich says, waiting for the waiter to leave before he says, “more for us,” which has Anastasia slapping his stomach playfully.
“You’re such a glutton.”
“Me? Nah,” he says with a grin.
“I’m having Eirik’s,” Dane says, pulling Eirik’s sandwich towards himself.
“Are you eating yours and his?” I ask with a frown.
“Well, I can’t let it go to waste, now can I?” His double burger is already huge, but with Eirik’s steak sandwich, I don’t know how he can manage all the food. I smile shaking my head at his happy smile, one thing about the Elemental men is that they love their food, it’s a good thing that they have a fast metabolism, or they wouldn’t look as handsome on their Harley’s as they do now.
I know that today is all about giving Anastasia and me a day out, but I’m glad that we have managed to see Esmeralda and maybe the men will be able to find her and keep her safe before she is caught. We finish eating without any sign from the others. Dane stands to go and pay, and I start making my way outside, smiling as I hear Anastasia and Ulrich bantering.
Opening the door, I step outside. The spring air surrounds me with its gentle breeze. I look back to see that the others are inside by the counter, laughing at something. Dane is grinning, his rugged features so handsome that I know there will never be a man more handsome to me. Hearing the squeal of tires, I’m still smiling when a van stops, the back-sliding door opens, and a man who jumps out suddenly starts running towards me. In that instant, I realize that I shouldn’t have come outside alone.
“Dane,” I scream but it’s too late, as the man drags me towards the open door of the van. The last thing I see is Dane’s eyes snap around to face me, his expression changing as he realizes what is happening, and then the sliding door of the van closing just as I see Dane rushing towards the Coffee shop’s door.
