“You don’t,” I state.
“How about telling me what the fuck you were thinking about when you attacked that actor?” Tor suddenly asks, his expression now hard as he stares at me.
“He fucking wanted to kiss Freya.” Tor glances at Freya then back at me, his expression unchanged.
“I knew mates were a fucking problem,” he grumbles as he closes his eyes for a few seconds before lifting his hand to rub his unshaven jaw. “Mine better stay far away for as long as possible.”
There was a time that Tor thought he had found his mate, but one of the women had a gift of manipulating people. Because of Tor’s glib tongue, she decided she wanted to teach him a lesson, so she manipulated his feelings to the point where he thought she was his mate. Once she realized that she was way over her head, she stopped her manipulation. Needless to say, Tor has been on a rampage against mates ever since. Soraya, the woman that manipulated his feelings, is now mated to another Elemental, but Tor is still sore about the fact that she played him.
When he found out that Soraya was mated, we all thought he was going to blow up after what happened. Yes, he was upset, but nowhere as upset as we thought he would have been.
“Fuck, Tor, don’t say that. We need a woman to keep you occupied,” Garth says as he leans against the door.
“I have more than enough woman keeping me occupied,” Tor grunts. “Now what have we found out about The Desperados, why are they all over town?” Dag pulls the photo out of his inside kutte pocket, passing it to Tor.
“They are looking for that woman. Apparently, she belongs to Sean,” Dag says, but there’s an angry note in his voice.
“Her name is Esmeralda, and she took something that Sean wants back,” Eirik says with a shrug.
“Esmeralda?” Dag asks, there is a strange note in his voice that has Tor raise a brow at him. “We need to find her before one of his goons do, you know what will happen if he gets her back.”
“Why the concern for this woman?” Tor asks
“I don’t know, but I know that we need to try find her,” Dag says as he runs his fingers through his hair. In Dag’s case, that is a sign of stress. Why would Dag be stressed about this woman?
“Fuck Dag, she better not be yours,” Tor mutters. “Speaking of that, what is your gift Freya?” At Tor’s question, I realize that Freya and I never got to finish our conversation. I feel Freya stiffen beside me, which has me pulling my hand from on top of hers so I can I throw my arm over her shoulder and bring her closer to me.
“Umm.” She glances at me before she bites her bottom lip in indecision. “I can freeze people without them knowing.”
What the fuck does she mean, freeze people?
“What does that mean?” Tor asks with a scowl.
“It means that usually when I get stressed, I can stop people or things for a couple of minutes.”
“You mean time?” Tal asks as he comes to stand behind Tor.
“Yes, you could say that.”
My woman can stop time?
“But time doesn’t really stop, only people or things. I’ve been able to stop a car before.”
“How do you go about doing that?” Garth asks.
Freya shrugs with a frown. “I say stop.”
“And can you just stop one person or everyone around that person?” I ask.
“I’ve only done it when there is one person around. I’ve never tried to direct it to only one person in a group or to a group.”
Tor looks at me, inclining his head towards Freya. “Figure it out,” he states as he pulls the chair back. “ I need to meet with your agent. Anything I need to know?” Tor asks Freya.
“Yes. He agreed to let everything run as is, if Dane stays away from the set.”
My back straightens. It’s the first I’m hearing about this. “Fuck no.” There is no way I’m letting Freya back on set without me. Whoever wants to harm her is one of her colleagues, I’m nearly one hundred percent sure of that.
“You messed it up. So you stay behind and someone else will go with your woman.” The thought of her being on set near that fucker, or in danger has my whole-body straining.
