“Now listen here. You threw a brick through my woman’s window.” His eyes fill with widening fear. “If someone was in the kitchen at the time, you could have hurt them. You will pay for that window and you will tell us everything you know about her if you want to carry on breathing.” He nods vigorously, I can smell his fear. My phone starts to vibrate in my pocket, but I ignore it. We need information on who paid these kids to frighten Freya, and if this kid can give us any information, then I’m not leaving here until I know everything.
“Tell us what the woman looked like,” Dag asks as he places a hand on my shoulder, squeezing lightly so that I take a step back.
“Don’t know. Looked like a rich chick,” the kid says with a shrug. “She was wearing fancy shoes and smelled of really strong perfume.”
“Anything you can tell us about how she looks?” Dag asks
“I don’t know. She was hot with an American accent.” My phone starts to vibrate again.
Fuck. Taking a step back, I pull it out of my pocket.
“Yeah?”
“What the fuck do you think you were doing?” Tor’s voice rumbles down the line.
“What?”
“I just had a fucking call from Mr. Taylor telling me that you nearly killed one of his actors.” The anger in his voice is tangible. Shit, that’s all I need right now is Tor on my case. “Why the fuck would you be threatening an actor? Do you know that he wants to file charges against you?”
“It’s fine, I’ll go speak to him,” I mumble. Maybe that will get him off my back.
“You aren’t going anywhere near him again; do you understand me, Dane?” There is a threat in his voice that I would do good not to ignore. Tor guides us with a strong arm, but there is no better man to be at our side than him. He will give up his life for anyone of us and we would do the same. Even though we aren’t the mellow, follow every order kind of guys, we do appreciate strength, and, in our chapter, there is no one stronger than Tor.
“Yeah,”
“Also, there seems to be more activity from The Desperados street gang. I want you three to keep an eye open for anything new.”
“Will do,” I say, thinking back to the Desperados that Eirik saw when we left the hotel this morning.
“We are on our way back and should be back in Cape Town tomorrow.” Tor, Tal, Asger and Colborn had a weapons shipment to collect from the Johannesburg chapter and were delivering it to the client before coming back, I guess they have finalized the delivery and are returning. The Elementals main source of income comes from smuggling weapons into Africa, but as a cover, we have various other businesses such as this security gig that Tor is so protective of.
“Are you sure that is all you know?” I hear Dag ask as I disconnect the call.
“Yeah,” the kid replies.
“If I find out that you are keeping something from us. We will be back and then you’ll be sorry because next time I will let my friend here take his frustration out on you.”
Just for effect, I scowl at him, which has the kid taking a step back. “That is all I know,” The kid states.
Dag looks at me and inclines his head towards the bikes, and I’m more than happy to leave.
“Did we get anything?” I ask as we sit on our bikes,
“No. Only that it was a woman that looked rich with strong perfume and bleached blond hair.”
“Fuck, do you think it’s a woman sending the threats?” Dag shrugs as he leans over his bike to start it.
“By the way, Tor wants us to keep an eye out for Desperados.” Dag nods before he pulls away from Frederickson’s house. I follow behind him, glad to be going back to Freya.
