ANASTASIA 8

How can I believe him when I saw that woman sitting on his lap? The anger that filled every fibre of my being at seeing his betrayal was all consuming. I know that we only had sex but for some reason I feel like he is mine and I have never been one to take abuse sitting down. Is it possible that what he said is true? I shake my head at the thought, I’m deluding myself if I believe him. He said that I am his mate but just after sleeping with me he has a woman sitting on his lap. How can it be true?

My anger is still pumping through my body every time I think of what I saw, and how dare he punch Haldor when he is the one that was in the wrong. I confess that I saw the opportunity to take a dig at him and took it, but I never thought that he would retaliate by punching Haldor. I didn’t lie when I said that Haldor is handsome, but so are all the others that I saw. I will never confess to him that to me he is the better looking of all of them, and his charisma has me hot and bothered when he is close.

I don’t know if what he said is true, I don’t know if those men are still looking for me, but I know that I don’t want them to get hold of me again. I will have to one way or another go back to my life, but how am I going to do that when in reality I want to stay here. I know that this is a fantasy and that I will need to go back to my life sooner or later, my parents will be missing me, and I can just imagine how Mr. Smith is doing without me.

I need to get hold of Mr. Smith, let him know that I will be coming back soon, but every time I think of phoning him I hesitate as it becomes too real the fact that I will have to leave soon and for some reason Ulrich has a hold on me that no one else has been able to do before. I don’t know if what he says is true and there is some kind of bond between us, but I know that I find it more and more difficult to be away from the man when he isn’t near. My mind is continuously on him, when he is away, I want him close and when he is close, he vexes me to the point of violence.

I wonder if I go look for Ulrich if he has another woman in his presence, I lift my hand to my hair and groan when I feel the curls in disarray. I’m going to have to wash my hair again so that I can tame my curls, and then I will try to find something to wear before I go out again. I want to see if what he said is true and if anyone tries to stop me when I’m not in the room.

My body is still slightly lethargic, but I need to get out of here and do something because I can’t sit in this room for another hour with nothing to do. I make my way to the bathroom and turn on the water in the shower. The water is hot and soothing. My hand moves to my neck where I saw the bruise earlier on. I have a vague recollection of Ulrich biting me there, the thought still has my body tingling. After washing my hair, I make my way out of the shower, drying my body as I walk towards the room just as I hear a knock on the door.

Wrapping the towel around myself I walk to the door, opening it I encounter a woman standing on the other side, her black hair long, her tight black dress like a second skin. “Hi,” I say seeing her eyes move over my body, my face and then my wet hair.

“Ulrich asked that I bring you these,” I look down at her hand to find a pair of jeans and two t-shirts neatly folded. “It should fit, you’re not as skinny as me but those are loose.” I look down at her clothes.

“Thank you so much.”

“No need, Ulrich will pay me back,” she says as she turns and walks away. At her comment I want to throw the clothes at her back, pay her back indeed. I will wear these clothes because I want to leave the room, but I sure as hell won’t have Ulrich owe the woman any favours, especially the way she suggested he was going to pay her back. I close the door to the room and quickly pull the jeans on and then the t-shirt. I don’t have a bra, so, unfortunately; I will have to go without one, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

I pass my fingers through my hair trying to take the nots out but to no avail. Looking around, I don’t see a brush, walking back into the bathroom I open the cabinet under the sink to find a brush but there is none. I am about to walk back into the room when I see a comb near one of the towel racks. Picking it up I start the cumbersome job of taking the knots out of my hair, I walk to the room, sitting on the bed I take piece by piece of hair until I have taken all the knots out and then I shake my head feeling the curls pop up around my head.

I finally feel like myself again, I take strands of hair and pull it back from my face, I don’t have shoes but I’m not planning on going outside so for now this will have to do. I open the door and make my way once again down the corridor and then down the stairs to where I can hear talking. For now, I just want to find some food as my stomach has started to rumble with hunger.

“I see that you are feeling better and looking better too.” At the sound of the man’s voice, I jump in surprise as I didn’t see anyone when I stepped off the bottom step.

“Oh, you startled me,” I say looking at the man that is standing against the frame of a door just to my back. “Yes, much better thank you,” I say smiling at his watchful look, like all the other men this one is also handsome but there is a sadness in his eyes that pulls at my heart. He has dark brown hair, cut short that shows off his strong jaw and tanned features. I can see a tattoo on his neck and his arms are covered in them. This man has a look about him that gives him an air of being haunted. All I want to do is go up to him and hug him tight.

“I’m Eirik,” he says as he moves away from the door and approaches me, “I’m guessing you’re looking for Ulrich?” At his question I shake my head.

“No, actually I’m looking for food.” At my reply he smiles, but I notice that the smile doesn’t reach his eyes.

“Food over Ulrich?” he quips, “he will never live that down.”

“I’m sure he will be fine; his ego is inflated enough to last him a lifetime,” I mutter and this time I get Eirik to grin.

“Well then Anastasia, follow me and I will lead you to food,” he says as he walks past me, down the corridor but instead of turning to where the noise of voices is coming, he continues until we enter a spacious kitchen. There is a woman sitting on the kitchen counter with a bowl in her hand eating what looks like cereal.

“Camille, get off the counter,” Eirik mutters as he shakes his head at her. She doesn’t say anything, just uncrosses her legs and slides down and off the counter, her noticeably short shorts riding up her ass. She looks at me, her eyes traveling over my body and then face.

“Who are you?” she asks.

“I’m Anastasia,” I reply and get a nod before she looks back down at her cereal, what a weird bunch.

“You can help yourself to anything you like, the food cupboards are there,” Eirik says pointing to one side of the kitchen where the cupboards run the length of the kitchen, “and everything else is in the fridge.”

“Thank you, I will have a look.”

“Anastasia, if you need anything just let one of us know and we will get it for you.” That is so sweet of him, but I must say that all the men I have met here have been nice, except for Ulrich that just irritates me.

“Thank you Eirik, that is really kind of you, but I think I’ll just have some cereal,” I say as I walk towards the fridge to find the milk. I see Camille approaching Eirik, she places her hand on his chest as she looks up at him her other hand still holding the bowl with cereal.

“I saw a sexy dress that would look really great on me, would you get it for me?” her voice is nasally as she tries to sound sexy.

“Didn’t Tor pay you this month?” Eirik asks with a raised brow as he looks down at her

“Yes,” she says with a frown.
