“Thanks, Davide. I’ll be in touch.”
Three hours later, the alarm on Max’s phone alerted him that he needed to get going if he wanted to make it downtown to his barber appointment. Max was just about to close his email when he heard the familiar ping that alerted him of new mail. He clicked on the mail to find a request for an interview from a new streaming network. He seemed to be in high demand. He just wasn’t sure he should share the news with PJ right away. He would wait until he was sure what he was going to do.
Rushing to get dressed, Max headed out to his favorite barber shop to get a trim and have his beard lined-up. He wanted to look good for his lady. He did a little two-step as he entered the elevator which scared the older woman standing next to him. He smiled as he danced his way to his car, leaving the shocked woman in his wake. He decided to call PJ needing to hear her voice.
“Dial Pashen,” he commanded his digital assistant.
“Hey, Sunshine. Missing me already?”
He laughed at her greeting, knowing she was right with her assessment.
“I figured you’d be missing me by now. Thought I would give you a call and put you out of your misery.”
“Boy, bye! You know you wanted to hear my voice. I bet you don’t even have a reason for calling me. Do you?”
“Of course, I do.”
“Well, why are you calling.”
“To hear your voice, of course.”
They both laughed, enjoying the banter. She was so easy to talk to. Max had never known another person, let alone a woman, who simply got him. He was happy he could just be himself and not have to put on a mask trying to be someone he wasn’t.
“Listen, I wanted to know if I can take you out tonight?”
“I’m not sure, Max.”
He felt his heart drop. Was she going to act funny now that they had made love? He wanted to be with her all the time. It would not sit well if she was having second thoughts. He must have been too quiet because she began talking again.
“I didn’t mean it like that, Sunshine. What I meant to say was I have to work late tonight.”
“What time will you be finished?”
“I should be here till around eight or nine. Is that too late?”
“I’ll tell you what, you have to eat, right? Let me bring you dinner. We’ll eat in your office, so you don’t have to stop working. Just leave everything to me.”
“Are you sure?”
“Of course. I’ll see you around seven.”
“Great and thanks, Sunshine.”
Max entered Aston Financial with a pep in his step. He was looking good, smelling good and had delicious food to feed his woman. He couldn’t wait to claim her mouth when he saw her. He hoped she was wearing her signature color of Mac™ lipglass because he wanted to kiss it off her mouth. He believed the color was called Explicit, which was spot on. Whenever he saw her lips, he wanted to do very explicit things to her mouth.
After checking in with the security guard, he was given a visitor’s pass and shown to the elevator. Max was giddy with excitement. He couldn’t wait to see his woman again. It had been a long day of him missing her and he needed to be in PJ’s presence. When he arrived at her office, the door was ajar so he knocked lightly and entered before she could invite him in.
“Sunshine! Hey, baby. Come on in. Something sure smells good. What cha got in the bag?”
“I’ve got your favorite.”
Max moved to her and kissed her sweetly on the lips. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and he melted into her. Damn she feels good. He deepened the kiss, forgetting about the food that was now resting on her desk. He needed both his hands to greet his woman.
The loud growl of her stomach was the only thing that caused him to pull away. His need to take care of her needs overshadowed his sexual desire. They looked at each other and laughed before he fed her.
“Come sit down and eat, honey.”
“Do I smell Jamaican?”
