“You’re a pathetic excuse for a human being, Elena.”
“At least I’ve got what I want and I’m happy about it. Now, be a good little girl and fuck off. Nick and I have a lot of…fucking to do. Bye!”
“Elena…”
But Elena hung up, still laughing before they were cut off.

Lee was aware of someone coming into the bakery while he was in the back. He wiped his forehead with his sleeve.
“I’ll be with you in just a second!”
The bread looked like it could do with a bit longer, and the cakes had five minutes left. Lee signaled for Sam to join him.
“Just listen out for the timer on these, will you? I’ll be out front.”
“I can go, if you want.”
“No, I’ll do it. I think I’ve had my session in the sauna for now.” Lee gestured at the large ovens. “Just keep an eye on these.”
“Sure thing.”
It did feel odd having employees at his age, but Lee wasn’t about to complain. He was just happy that he had managed to get himself set up and thriving after a couple of years. Even with the pandemic hitting them, he was still successful. Working from home throughout the lockdown and getting orders out to his customers had worked for him. Now he was busier than ever.
He could only hope they didn’t need to go back into another lockdown. Being the only person in the place and unable to go outside had made him feel claustrophobic for the first time in his life. That hadn’t been fun.
Lee stepped out into the main part of the bakery, only to find a familiar person leaning on the counter. Someone who looked very similar to him, to the point they could be looking in a mirror. Lee grinned.
“Keith! What are you doing here?”
“I was just passing, and I thought I’d come and check on you.” Keith Brown gestured at the display unit. “And to sample some of your wares.”
Lee laughed.
“You mean you’re sneaking away to gorge on sweet things while Julia’s at home with the baby.”
“I’m actually ordering to take it back to her. Julia’s craving sweet things at the moment, especially cream.”
“Are you trying to tell me something?”
His twin grinned.
“She’s pregnant again.”
It took a moment for the words to sink in. Lee’s mouth fell open.
“Really?”
“Took the test yesterday. The doctor says she’s about two months along. We’re going to keep it quiet until we’re out of the first trimester, but as you’re my twin, I wanted you to know.”
“I’m honored.” Lee came out from behind the counter and hugged his brother. “Congratulations. That’s great. Although are you sure you’re going to be able to cope with a toddler and a baby?”
“We’ll manage. Julia’s sure we can handle it.”
“Just don’t have anymore kids, or you’re going to go insane.”
Keith laughed.
