Chapter One
“Oh, Daisy, you look stunning!” Marigold gushed as she finished tying the bow on the back of her dress. “I thought it looked great when you were in the store trying it on, but this is something else.”
Daisy beamed as she looked at herself in the mirror. She was really pleased with her find. It had taken quite a while to get the perfect dress. The bodice hugged her chest, showing more curvy than she expected to have, and the skirt felt like it was made out of air with how soft and delicate it was. The whole thing sparkled, and it seemed to light her up.
Nick had told her that she could get married in a burlap sack and he wouldn’t care. Daisy wanted something a bit flashier than a sack.
“I feel guilty about the amount of days I spent dragging everyone out looking for it,” she said, touching her hair and tucking a stray strand behind her ear. “I was pretty awful.”
“You’ve apologized already for it. It’s absolutely fine.” Marigold grinned and squeezed her twin’s shoulders. “We’ve all forgiven you, and we know how much this means to you. Plus, you’ve been pretty laidback with everything else, so one slip isn’t going to hurt anyone.”
“How are you able to make everyone feel better all the time? I have no idea how you do it.”
Marigold laughed.
“I have to deal with rowdy hockey players most of my work day. When you have to deal with grown men having tantrums, you get used to dealing with anyone.”
“Does that also apply to the three guys you’ve hooked up with?”
“Including them. They’re probably the worst.”
Daisy smiled.
“But you still love them.”
“Well, they make it easy.” Marigold winked at her sister in the mirror. “If you know what I mean.”
“Marigold!”
“What? I’m just saying. It’s not every day you have three gorgeous guys who want to be with you.”
Daisy couldn’t argue with that. Although she had been very shocked when Marigold called her and said not only was she pregnant but she was in a polyamorous relationship with three guys. It had taken a few minutes for the words to sink in, and for Daisy to realize that Marigold was actually serious and not fucking around with her. How was she even able to keep up with that? Three guys and one woman had to be a recipe for disaster.
But it had been three months since Marigold had told her, and things seemed to be really good. Daisy had met Darren, Jake and Nathan, and they were really nice. They all clearly loved Marigold, and it did look like Marigold was waited on hand and foot. Daisy had never seen anything like it.
It had taken a bit longer for the rest of the family to get used to it. Their father was very uncomfortable by it, and it had only been a week since he said he could accept Marigold’s lifestyle as long as she didn’t do anything stupid with it. Even their grandparents were slowly coming around. There were a couple of their relatives who called Marigold quite a few names that made Daisy’s ears burn, but her sister didn’t seem to care. She certainly looked happier than Daisy had seen her in a long time.
Especially with her growing belly. Seven months pregnant, and it was a good look on her. Marigold seemed to just glow.
Daisy hoped that would happen with her when she got pregnant. If she was lucky, it wouldn’t be long before that happened to her. Nick was keen to start having a family as soon as possible. Their honeymoon was going to be very enthusiastic.
“I think that’s you done now.” Marigold stepped back. “I’ll go and let Dad know you’re ready.”
“And see if you can find the other bridesmaids. I don’t know what’s keeping them.”
“They’re probably getting drunk with the makeup artist in their room. There was a big bottle of tequila in there.”
Daisy groaned.
“I told them to keep off the tequila. That is probably the worst when it comes to that lot.”
“At least they’ll be more pliable when you want them to do something. Especially Elena.” Marigold shook her head. “I still think you should have uninvited her from the wedding. She’s a really obnoxious person, and I don’t think she’s a friend at all.”
“She is a friend. We’ve been friends for nearly twenty years.”
“I wouldn’t call her that, Daisy. Not with the way she’s treated you over the years.”
Daisy frowned. Marigold had been vocal about Elena for years. The two of them did clash quite a bit. Elena said Marigold was dull as dishwater, while Marigold thought Elena was cocky and arrogant who thought only of herself. Daisy saw a different side to her friend, which was why they hadn’t cut off their friendship.
