I raise my hand and tap my chin as I think. “I wanted to be a fashion designer when I went to college, but after the first semester, I changed my degree to Computer Science after only signing up for a coding class because someone told me it was easy and would satisfy some of the credits I needed.”
His head cocks to the side, then he nods. “I can see that. What else?”
“My favorite color is orange, because it reminds me of the sun rising and setting every day. My favorite food is pizza. I don’t like the rain, but I can tolerate the snow. Reality TV is the dumbest thing man ever thought of.”
He chuckles. “I agree with that last part, but then again, I’m not a fan of any TV. I can do movies on occasion, but that’s about all the screen time I can take. Green used to be my favorite color, but—” his fingers tug lightly at my hair, “—auburn is beginning to take its place. Seafood is my favorite food. Any kind. And I love the rain. At least the way the air smells after a storm. There’s something calming about the silence it brings, too.”
I grin widely. Our night has taken a turn I didn’t expect. This side of Bentley is dangerous, and I’m glad he’s kept it hidden from me for all these weeks. Though, I won’t soon forget our time up here and no time will be soon enough for us to come back.
“What?” he asks with a pinched expression.
I smooth the lines between his eyes with my thumb. “I’m glad I’m here with you. That’s all.”
He grips my hips, eyes smoldering. “Me too.”
I lean closer and press my lips to his, then whisper, “Thank you for sharing those things with me.”
He holds me tighter. “Of course.”
I move back to his side and rest my head on his chest, listening to the sound of Bentley’s heartbeat while staring up at the stars.
Big feelings are growing inside me and, for once, I don’t want to distract them with sarcasm or sex. Instead, I immerse myself in the moment. Being here with Bentley, seeing what he’s created just for us, hearing more about who he is behind the suit, satisfies me just as much as when he’s screwing me senseless.
