Chapter Eight
PENIS COOKIES
Bentley
When I get home, all I want to do is head for my gym room, eat, go over a few emails, and sleep. Only when I see my sister’s silver Mercedes parked in front of my house, I try not to be disappointed. Especially since it’s been three months since I’ve seen her.
I park in the garage and head inside. She has a key, so I don’t suspect she’s waited in her car for me to get home.
“Celia?” I call as I walk through the kitchen.
“Media room,” her voice echoes through the sparse house.
As I make my way through the hallways, I try to be grateful that my grandmother left this place to me, but it’s much more house than I would have ever bought for myself.
When I enter the media room, Celia is lounging on the long red couch and eating popcorn. She has her dark-blonde hair pulled up in a high ponytail, making her cheekbones look even sharper than normal, and she’s still wearing her polo from the bakery and dark-wash jeans.
She doesn’t even look back or bother to get up when I clear my throat. “Missed me that much, huh?” I joke and walk around to sit on the couch with her.
While I’m lifting her feet to make room, she raises a finger at me. “This is the best part.”
I glance at the screen. It’s some sappy romance movie I’m sure she’s seen a hundred times. Women. They’re odd creatures.
The thought makes an image of Kenzie pop into my head. I close my eyes and lean my head back. How is it possible that my first night back, I fucked the one woman I won’t be able to avoid at least for the next eight weeks?
She’s crass, loud, unfiltered, wild, and everything I never wanted in a woman.
At first, I blamed the jet lag for my choices, then it was my ex Selene for pissing me off over the phone, but the more I allow myself to think about Kenzie, the more I realize it was the fire in her eyes that challenged me. Made me want to know if I could put out the flames.
Spoiler alert: I failed.
Celia’s foot kicks me in the ribs. “My movie is over. Wake up.”
I turn my head toward her and open my eyes. “Hello to you, too.”
She gets up and moves to lean her head against my chest and drapes an arm over my stomach. “I missed you, big brother.”
“I missed you, too, little sister.” I squeeze her tightly against me. “But if you ever tell Selene anything about me again, I’ll change the locks.”
Celia gasps. “You wouldn’t.”
I raise a brow. “I would. That woman isn’t for me. I don’t want to hear from her anymore.”
She sighs. “I really am sorry, but I think she’s learned from her mistakes. You should give her another chance. She’s always so kind to me, and I know she loves you.”
Selene is a master manipulator, and I’ve tried to tell Celia this many times, but unfortunately, Selene hasn’t ever slipped up with my sister.
I grab both of her shoulders gently. “Listen, Ce. I know you mean well, but I really am done with her. I’m glad you can keep your friendship, but please don’t try and get us back together. It’s only going to hurt Selene more.”
Just as I hoped, Celia frowns at my last sentence. “That wouldn’t be good for any of us. I’ll do my best to keep your name out of our conversations.” Then, she grins widely. “I have this other friend…”
“Absolutely not.” I stand and reach my hand to her. “If you want me to still speak to you and allow you in this house, then you’ll leave my love life alone.”
Celia rolls her light-blue eyes. “You’re no fun now that you’re getting gray hairs.”
I sneer, pulling her up with a jerk. “I am not.”
She laughs and loops an arm through mine. “Come on, you big grump. I brought pizza. It’s in the oven.”
