Yet I was still disappointed.

And I could’ve sworn Swiss was too. Or it could’ve been wishful thinking.

“We haven’t been using protection,” I commented while we were in the kitchen. After we’d cleaned up from the party, Swiss had fucked me on the kitchen counter.

I’d just cleaned myself up, and had decided we needed chocolate chip cookies. Swiss had not argued. So I was in Swiss’s tee, mixing up the batter.

He was in sweats and nothing else.

“Well aware of that, Countess,” Swiss murmured, his hand going underneath the tee to cup my bare pussy.

I licked my lips, knees wobbling ever so slightly. “And I’m not on birth control,” I continued, voice smaller.

“Noticed that too, Kate,” Swiss retorted, more gently this time.

I tilted my head to look up at him. I shouldn’t have been surprised, really. He noticed everything about me and about my routine.

“And you’ve still been…”

“Coming inside you?” he finished for me.

Nodding, I felt my cheeks heat. The blush made absolutely no sense since he’d literally just fucked me on the counter I was making cookies on, but I blushed nonetheless.

“Still scares the shit out of me,” he admitted gravely. “Still somethin’ I’m gonna wrestle with. And when you get pregnant, I’ll probably be as fuckin’ crazy as Hades is.”

Swiss took the wooden spoon from my hands, lifting it to lick it before he put it in the bowl so he could yank me flush with his body.

He kissed me, and it tasted like cookie dough. “But seein’ you with Violet,” he murmured against my mouth. “Seein’ you as a mother.” He kissed me again, deeper this time. “Didn’t think you could be any sexier. And the thought of you growing my child.” His hand moved to my semi-flat stomach. The one that was doing cartwheels.

“Yeah, I think those things chase away some of the darkest shit my mind has to offer,” he rasped, eyes locked with mine. “If you wanna have a baby, that is. Wanna make it clear that any path you wanna take, I’m down with. Only thing that’s important to me is you being on the back of my bike for the rest of my life.”

My body bloomed with warmth and pure happiness.

“I want that with you,” I spoke without thinking. “I want a family with you.”

I barely got the words out before Swiss kissed me.

It was safe to say no cookies were baked that night. There were babies to be made.
