The brunette squeezes his forearm. “Maybe.” She looks my way after attempting to play coy, but we all know she’ll be texting him later. “Jack, good to meet you. Come back and see me again?”

I just smile and salute her with my drink.

Law’s phone must buzz, as he pulls it from his jacket and texts someone back while smiling. “Alright, what was I saying? Oh yeah, so about two years after grinding away in agency life, I took a swift look at my options and decided I was wasting my time. It made more sense to dedicate my time to growing the family business. I’m the youngest and everyone else had already carved out places where they would be instrumental in its growth. It was my sister who talked me into coming back home and running marketing.”

Just the mention of her and I’m picturing her in the kitchen all over again. Flushed and vulnerable, looking at me as if she wanted to lick every inch of me. I sure as shit wanted to steal a taste of her, especially after thinking about her lack of panties.Damn.

Law continues. “She told me if I could run award-winning campaigns to sell people water, a product that can be free from your tap, then I could kick ass for the family business, where we had a carved-out market, location, and superior shit.” He laughs and pauses, maybe remembering the discussion. “She said it, not me, and that was it.” He claps his hands together. “That was about five years ago now, and we’re finally in a place where our visions for growth have been approved by the board and my dad. It was the right move.”

I can appreciate their dynamics and the relationships they have with each other. To have someone inside your family that you grew up with recognize a talent and cheer them on, but also support how they lead their life. It’s inspiring, and I have a pang of jealousy for not being a part of it. “So Everly is the ringleader, then? Or is your father still at the helm?”

Before answering me, Law leans back in his seat and thinks for a beat. “Everly’s more like the hero. My dad isn’t ready to let go completely, and Ev gets that, but it also doesn't stop her from getting her way. My sister is the best person you’ll ever meet. She’s tough as hell and can run the shit out of this company.”

I’m half hard just thinking about the woman, but beyond that, I’m realizing she’s in an entirely different league than the type of women I’m used to being around. There’s danger in that, I can feel it, but it just makes me think about her full lips and the way her tongue swiped along them when she dragged her eyes down my body in the pool house.

“She’s a badass.” Law pulls my attention back to our conversation. “Over the last handful of years, she’s managed to grow our team efficiently and has doubled sales every quarter. Except for last year. Last year, we tripled our numbers when Henry finally got his way and we incorporated two choppers into our heli-skiing program. Not to mention, she’s creative as hell…if you saw some of the stuff she wasn’t getting credit for…” He blows out a breath. “Eh, anyway, that’s enough shop talk. What do ya say, want to hit up the next spot with me?”

I look at my watch. It’s just about ten-thirty, and I’m starting to fade fast. Law can tell I’m going to say no and decides to seal the deal by telling me, “That was her, by the way, who just texted me. Ev and her best friend, G, are at the bar right now. Want to push some of her buttons and check out the view?”

He saw us together today. He knows what he’s doing by dangling his sister as bait to keep the night going. While a good night's sleep is the smarter option, I’d rather check out the view. That realization pisses me off more than anything, but not enough to change my mind.

“Let's go.”
