If you wantAmbrose Yates back alive, you'll bring the time-wielder to the time and place below. She must come alone, or else we'll send you his head in a box next. Directions below.

She didn't readany further as she did her best to blink back any tears. It was hard to kill a vampire in their frozen state, but cutting off their head would most definitely do it.

But she wasn't about to become hysterical, or wail, or any other number of things many females did. Nora had survived worse, much worse, and what she needed most right now was her brain. Only then could she try to find a way to help not only her son, but her brother.

Because she wasn't about to let her brother lose his bride just when he'd found her. And she had no doubt Leo would tear up all of London to help save his nephew.

What she needed to do was talk to her brother, no matter how much she didn't want to lay yet another burden at his feet.

As she leaned against the wall for momentary support, John's steady voice filled her ear. "The note doesn't say anything about not telling Leo, so let's do that. He'll come up with a plan, I'm sure of it. But let me escort you to your room first, so you can calm yourself."

She shook her head. "No. I want to hear what Leo has to say."

John scowled. "You're a bit unsteady on your feet, Nora. You need to rest."

Digging down, she found the strength to stand without assistance. When it came to Ambrose, she always found a way to be strong. Always. Even if he was an adult and no longer the small, frightened, and abused boy who she'd first held all those years ago, she wouldn't fail him now.

Clenching the fingers of one hand, she gently pushed John away and stood mostly steady. Another beat and she finally spoke, her voice stronger than before. "Ambrose is in danger. I won't be persuaded to sit and merely wait around. I want to know the plan and assist any way that I can."

Well acquainted with the Yates stubbornness, even if Nora didn't show it as often as her brothers, John sighed. "Fine. Then let’s tell Leo without delay."

As they went back upstairs, Nora's worry for her son was only made worse by what they were about to do now. Her brother's well-deserved peace was about to be destroyed.

But she had to trust her eldest brother. Surely there had to be a way for them to both save Ambrose and keep Yesenia with Leo. Both males had endured such pain in their lives, and she didn't want to believe either one would have to endure more.
