She blinked. "Um, yes."

He raised his brows. "I may be a vampire, but I understand the basics of fae witch magic."

Well, and he'd been reading a bit more about it in the last few days, when his dreams had made sleep impossible.

Not because he wanted to understand his bride better. Most definitely not that.

Although he was far from knowing everything. And for some reason, he didn't want his ego getting in the way with his bride by pretending to know everything about her powers. Trying not to read into that too closely, he asked, "But towhencan you send it? I'm afraid I don't know all the intricacies of time travel. Since my cousin's husband came when I was young, I didn't really have the chance to ask him about how he'd come to be in the past."

Yesenia used a piece of bread to wipe her bowl clean—her complete lack of table etiquette was somewhat charming, even if he'd never admit it aloud—before answering, "As far I understand it, and I'm no expert yet, it can be anywhen as long as it doesn't involve my own timeline's past."

Nora spoke up. "Which means you should be able to warn your siblings right after you disappeared from your wedding."

Yesenia bobbed her head. "Yes, although such precision is probably going to be beyond my abilities for a while. However, if I can get it to either River or Meadow within a few days after that, I think it'll be okay. They can warn each other and at least go into even deeper hiding." She sipped her wine, and he was mesmerized by her tongue darting out to lick a droplet off her lips. He wanted her to lap the head of his cock in just the same way.

She continued and Leo did his best to push aside visions of her lapping his dick and listen again. "Rebecca has offered to help me focus my power to send the note, when it comes to it, and for trying to set up a location to retrieve a reply." Yesenia frowned. "The retrieving will be a hell of a lot harder, though, according to the fae witches. So as much as I hate relying on luck, fingers crossed all will go off without a hitch."

Worry flashed across her eyes before it swiftly vanished. Leo gripped his spoon tighter in his fingers to quell the urge to touch and comfort her. He couldn't allow them to form a bond. He just couldn't.

Nora gently touched Yesenia's upper arm. "You somehow brought yourself here without even knowing it, so I imagine you have great power within you. And when it comes time to help those you love, I think your magic will work as it should."

Ambrose signed and Nora translated, "Ambrose thinks you'll do brilliantly as well."

As his nephew smiled at Yesenia, Leo couldn't help but growl. Ambrose looked at him and raised his brows before rolling his eyes. His nephew signed, "Just stop. I'm not going to steal her from you, although why you resist her, I'll never bloody understand. She’s clever, beautiful, and spirited, with a unique view of life. Why wouldn't you want her as your bride for the rest of your life?"

He signed back, "Stay out of it."

Nora ignored the both of them to focus on Yesenia. "And isn't your first meeting with Dark Lord Khan tomorrow?"

Yesenia bit her lip and nodded. "He wants to judge my progress in person." She briefly glanced at Leo and back to Nora. "And to ensure I'm being treated well."

Bloody Khan and thinking Leo would ever harm his bride.

The meeting wasn't only for her, however. Leo would have his own chat with the fae witch, along with the annoying shifter leader, Everett Black. They regularly met once a month, and Khan had suggested the wolf should come tomorrow. Especially since Black had ended up sending a hastily scrawled note with the information he'd found about the rival gaming hell—not much, truth be told—and had delayed their in-person meeting.

All that mattered was keeping the furry bastard away from Yesenia and the wolf's charm. That way he wouldn't have to kill Black for trying to poach his bride.

And now his instinct was trying to make his allies into potential enemies. He signaled the footman to bring the main course. The sooner they finished eating, the sooner he could get Yesenia alone. Once he set a date to claim her, hopefully his bloody instinct would settle down a bit. Because if it reared its jealous head at his meeting tomorrow, it could make his life extremely difficult.
