Just when she thought she might fall apart at the seams, and that she really couldn’t take any more, she felt his tempo shift. She felt him ram into her somehow harder, but more erratically. He thrusted into her with wild abandon, with animal desperation. When he buried himself deep the final time and held her there, clutching her body to his, he buried his head into the crook of her neck and let out a muffled roar of release.
The feeling of him surging inside her was enough to send her falling over the edge of that oblivion again beside him. It took a long moment before she remembered which end was up, and by that time he had pulled her down to lie on the sofa atop his chest. He was panting for air, his body covered in sweat along with hers.
“Shit,” she said through a long breath. “Just. Shit, Gideon.”
“I warned you. It’s been a while.” He let out a long puff of air. “I need a shower.”
“Yeah.” She chuckled. “You ’n me both. How about we—”
The sound of a door opening upstairs cut her off. “Are you two goddamn done already? Some of us are trying to sleep around here!” Harry slammed the door shut, rattling glassware somewhere in the building.
Maggie and Gideon both had to stifle their laughter.
