“How awesome for you,” I say and sit back in astonishment. “When’s the date?”
“Oh, we’ve decided to elope. Neither one of us wants the pomp and circumstance,” she settles down and turns her gaze to me. “You’ve kept me waiting, so who is he?”
I smile and make her wait a little longer, which I know is absolute torture for her. When I see that she’s about to bust, I lay it on her. “Well, for one thing, there’s two guys.”
Jessy drops her jaw and leaves her mouth open wide. I laugh at the shock on her face before I say more. “You better shut that mouth before flies get in there.”
“Two?” she asks.
“I’m in love with both of them and I really can’t choose between them,” I say resting my head on one hand.
“So don’t choose,” she looks at me. I’m dumbfounded by her calmness. “Who says you should have to choose, if they’re okay with all of the sharing. Choose them both.”
“I’m really pissed at one of them because I overheard him saying that he thought I was guilty,” I hang my head and wait for her response. She always had good things to say.
“C’mon, Tamara, you know better than that. Guys say and do stupid things sometimes. It’s in their nature,” she assures me. “So don’t choose at all. Fuck them both whenever you want.”
We both have a good laugh at that and move the discussion further along about her man. In the back of my head, my bestie gave me some damned good advice.
