Sean
My assistant left the iced chai lattes on the coffee table between Logan and me. As usual, Logan grabs the one with the most whipped cream.
“Still the greedy fucker,” I say with a snort.
Logan picks up the iced chai latte and takes a sip. He puts down the cup.
“Sean, I’m in love, not dead. Are you jealous?”
I don’t answer that question because truly, I don’t understand my feelings on this issue. If I am going to spend my life being jealous every time Logan comes out ahead, I’ll have a long and frustrating life. Just like he will every time he loses to me.
“So why this early morning meeting Sean?”
“You don’t know why? Geez Logan, you are the least perceptive person that I know.”
Logan laughs. I pick up my iced chai latte and sit down on the chair opposite Logan.
“You get so ticked off these days at me. Is it sexual tension?”
“Yes, Logan, that's what it is.”
I take a sip of my iced chai latte and wonder if something is wrong with Logan.
“Hey Logan, the real problem is that our girlfriend Evelyn is in crisis and having a meltdown as we speak.”
Logan puts his latte down on the coffee table and sits back into his chair. He crosses his left leg over his right leg.
“Ah yes, the situation.”
“Yes, Logan, the situation. What are we going to do about it?”
“Fix it of course.”
“How, Logan?”
“Let’s find the little punk who’s doing this.”
“Does Morty have any leads?”
“In fact, he does.”
“Is it enough to find who is doing this?”
“He just needs one more day, he tells me.”
“Good, what are we going to do when we find him?”
“Well, that’s pretty obvious, isn’t it?”
I think of the way Logan has managed problems in the past. People’s lives change and this makes me nervous. I’ve never been working with Logan when he pulls one of his capers. Now I am going to be part of one.
“I can’t lie Logan; my blood is pumping on this one. I can’t wait to find…”
“Hold on Sean, we aren’t going to do anything illegal or unethical.”
“We’re not?”
“You sound so disappointed,” Logan laughs.
