Andrew
“Dylan, how am I supposed to know what to wear if you won’t tell us where we’re going?”
Hazel’s voice is an overly dramatized whine.
“Yeah!” I cry with her as we clank our wine glasses together.
“Okay you two, I’ve picked out your outfits so you can’t use that excuse anymore, now hurry up, or we’re going to be late.”
Dylan picked outfits for us that aren’t exactly casual but aren’t exactly formal either. They’re just nice enough to be slightly uncomfortable.
Dylan call’s a car, and we’re at the restaurant in no time.
Hazel gasps as we walk up the large stone steps to the restaurant. The sky is dark, decorated with stars above. Inside, the restaurant is lit by them. The roof is essentially one giant skylight. The walls are decorated with fairy lights, and candles are at every table.
Hazel jumps up and down with her glossy lips turned up into a smile. Her hair bounces with her. She makes my heart beat as fast as a humming bird flaps its wings.
“Oh my God! Dylan, this is beautiful. Andrew, isn't it beautiful?”
“It is. Aren’t we lucky we’re dating such a good man?”
Hazel's smile is about to run off her face and Dylan is blushing hard.
A host seats us at a secluded booth by a large window. Combined with the skylight, we hardly feel like we’re inside.
We eat and laugh, completely in awe of the surroundings together. We joke about our old work and life, about dreams and the company. Sometimes, our energy dies down, and we sit in comfortable silence together, letting our senses have some attention, instead of our words.
“Guys, I really want to talk to you about something,” Hazel says as the night winds down.
Her happy tone hasn’t dropped.
“I’ve been wondering how to bring this up for a little bit now.”
Okay, now I’m a little worried.
“Hazel? What’s going on?”
I rest my hand on her, trying all my best to comfort her as she takes a deep breath.
“Being with you two has been so much more than I could have ever imagined.”
Oh my God, is she breaking up with us?
“Seriously, when we first started this, I really thought… sure, I can have some fun with these two hot guys. I had no expectations of where I thought this could go and doing things like this or just spending time together with our movie nights, it made me realize… I want to do this as long as I possibly can with you two.”
Dylan gasps. His eyes are brimming with tears that I know will never drop because it’s rare enough to see this side of him.
“I’m in love with you two, both of you, completely. So I wanted to ask- can we make this official? I want this forever.”
Hazel grabs Dylan's hand across the table, and mine right next to her. Dylan reaches for my hand, closing the circle.
“Me too,” Dylan says with a smile.
“Me three. I love you, Hazel. I love you, Dylan. You two feel so right to me, I can hardly remember my life before we started this whole thing.”
A heartfelt pause lingers between us.
“I love you.”
