“Bullshit, you’re keeping her for yourself.”

His already pale skin leached of color. “What did you just say to me?”

“You heard me. Deny it all you want, but I can smell the truth all over you. You want her. But I’ll let you in on a not-so-little secret. Sunday Fallon ismine. You will never be able to give her what she needs.”

“I may want her, but I have something you don’t.”

“What’s that, blue balls?”

“Control.”

I growled, low and deep. “Take me to her, Priest.”

“You’ll have to go through me if you want to get to her.”

Her scent filled the space, and I knew I didn't need this bloodsucking eunuch to help me now. Nothing would keep me from her.

I shrugged. “Not a problem.”

I’d pay for this later, but right now I didn’t care about things like rules and pecking order. This douche was standing between me and my mate. If I had to kill him to get to her, I’d do it without a second thought.

My wolf rose to the surface, eager to take control now that Sunday was in reach. His strength infused me, fangs filling my mouth and claws breaking through my skin.

The vampire was fast, but in this moment, I was faster. With a strength born of madness, I grasped both sides of his head and twisted, snapping his neck before he could summon another threat.

I let his body drop to the floor with a satisfying thud. “You’ll be fine. And trust me, this is the only way to help Sunday now.”

Stepping over the priest, I locked onto Sunday’s tantalizing aroma, my cock thickening and pushing painfully at my fly. My balls ached. Fuck, everything hurt. I needed her as much as she did me.

“Where are you, baby?” I whispered as I followed her trail through the church, stopping in front of the confessional booth.

I ripped the curtain aside, desperation making me use more force than necessary and accidentally shredding it. It was fucking empty.

No.

I could smell her. She was here.

With that thought in mind, I stalked around the box, her scent growing weaker, then stronger the lower to the floor I was. Bracing my palms on the side of the confessional, I shoved the thing aside. It crashed to the floor and broke into pieces, splintered wood all that remained of the antique. Oh, well. Maybe someone would come along and use a stake to get the priest out of my hair.

As the debris cleared, the secret of the confessional was revealed.

Father Gallagher, you sick fuck.

A staircase twisted down into the bowels of the church, hiding God knew what dark sins and with them, her.

She was down there. I knew it without a doubt.

I’m coming for you. And once I find you... you’ll be coming for me.

I took the stairs two at a time, racing forward in the pitch-black space, not worried about the fact that there was no light to guide me. I didn’t need it. I had her. My beacon calling me home.

A soft whimpered moan echoed through the corridor, the whisper of my name reaching me and sending my wolf wild.

I growled, my heart thundering as I prowled down the darkened hall toward the lone door. Without hesitation, I grasped the ancient knob in my hand and tore it straight out. Then I sent the door crashing open and groaned at the sight before me.

Lying on a nest of blankets in front of a fire that was little more than embers was my Sunshine, clad only in a white button-up shirt that definitely did not belong to her. Her luminous gaze found mine, fevered with lust and pain and need.

“Kingston, please,” she moaned.

My cock gave an approving twitch as my hands dropped to unbuckle my belt. A command I’d never uttered sat ready on my lips. I wasn’t entirely sure if it was my wolf who was giving the order or me—or if there was a difference at this point. But I couldn’t stop myself from saying the word.

“Present.”
