She couldn’t breathe, couldn’t even blink as she stared up into his eyes. The smoldering heat and desire there made everything inside her turn to liquid.

He started to move slowly in her, sinking deep and sliding back out.

“Are you okay?”

His soft question made her give a laugh that was mixed with a gasp. “I’m pretty amazing right now.”

“Yeah.” He moved deep and groaned. “I’ll second that.”

She lifted her hips to meet his thrusts, finding a rhythm that heightened the already near consuming pleasure.

With each thrust, the need inside her grew.

“Please.” She wasn’t sure what she begged for, only that she needed that final release again. It was building. And she was so close.

He must’ve known, because he brushed his thumb just above the sensitive spot where they were joined. Once, twice, and then she was flying.

As she gasped and trembled through her climax, he laced his fingers through hers on either side of her body.

He drove into her faster now in a way that had her pulse continuing to race. Almost like he was claiming her.

The fierce desire in his eyes, and the way he didn’t look away, only compounded it.

Never, ever, had she felt so cherished. So desired. So loved.

Wrong word.

She silently scolded herself and shut that down. Eric could never love her. He’d made that clear. What was happening now was some kind of fluke that she was going to absolutely enjoy every minute of.

Which, oh God, clearly was nearly over.

“Hannah!” Eric cried her name before lowering his head and catching her mouth in another fierce kiss.

She caught his guttural groan, soothing her tongue against his and clenching her inner muscles around him as he found his own release.

When his arms seemed to give out and the weight of his body crushed down on hers, she welcomed it. Loved the feel of his hard chest and coarse hair against her breasts.

There were no awkward emotions racing through her—which she’d feared a bit. It all felt so normal. So right.

She pressed a kiss to the side of his neck and traced the muscles of his back with her fingers. When he didn’t move, she couldn’t resist teasing, “Are you alive?”

“Completely dead right now,” he mumbled. “Got a defibrillator on hand?”

She smiled. “You know, it’s on the list, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet.”

“No problem. Jumper cables might work.”

“Jumper cables I can do.” She laughed and brushed another kiss against his neck.

In one swift move, he’d rolled them so they were both on their sides. His eyes were alight with a tenderness that had her warmth spreading through her.

“You are so beautiful.” He brushed his lips across hers in a quick kiss. “So completely amazing.”

“I happen to think similar things about you.” She wrinkled her nose. “I’m just sad it took me so long to notice.”

“I was in the friend zone.” He sighed. “I probably still should—”

“Don’t.” She pressed two fingers to his lips, her stomach clenching. “Don’t ruin this. You’re my friend, but you’re also my lover now. And I hope you don’t regret it.”
