“I’d like to see a show while I’m here.”
“You, Miss Sabine, are in luck. I just happen to be good friends with the owner of the Gryphon Lane Theater, and there’s a show closing tonight.”
I glance at a painted wooden sign nearby. “Gryphon Lane? Isn’t that the street we’re on?”
“The theater is just down the road.”
“How serendipitous,” I say carefully, not sure I fully believe him.
After all, it’s far too easy for humans to lie. At the same time, I don’t sense any malicious intent.
“I can get you a ticket if you’d like.” Frederick’s smile becomes flirtatious. “Or better yet, you could accompany me.”
I think about it for a moment, and then I nod. “Tell me where it is while we eat, and tonight, I’ll meet you there.”
